There is no difference between purple weapons and gold weapons or gold weapons and blue weapons for that matter. If they are inscribable, they can be modded to max stats.
The difference is, a purple weapon won't drop with max stats. It will just come with a middle range modifier that isn't perfect (ie, a blue weapon might be 11^50, a purple might be 14^50, while a gold might be 15^50). However, purple weapons, like all other weapons, can be modded up to max stats. Note, there is no "hidden" modification or power to a weapon in GW. What you see on the weapon discription about damage and moddifiers is what you get. As for the price check, make a seperate thread in the PC forum for that. |

i have noticed that certain rare items people will pay good money no matter purple or gold, however normally people call purples inferior, even a perfect modded one, not really sure cause for me a maxed stat is a maxed stat no matter purple or gold.

Statistically speaking, there are no differences between inscribable purples and golds, since both can be modded to the exact same stats. There's still a difference in pricing, though, and most purples are generally regarded as worthless, with few exceptions.

Basically, how it works is if the weapon/shield/offhand is purple, even with max damage and perfect mods, it cannot be sold for more than 1k unless you scam a new player.
So, in general, salvage the 20/20 and 15>50 (you will need a Perfect Salvage Kit from EotN to ensure you get both) and sell them. If you take your time with selling, you should end up with at least 5k. I got a max purple shield drop today. I will be giving it away in Ascalon when I drop in later this week. Only a low-level player will appreciate a purple and not all of them. You would be surprised how many refusals you get even for a free purple.

The color of the text is everything, nobody will buy it. Incredibly stupid, you can thank the GW community for making it that way.

Someone might buy it because generally r9 insc eternals are between 20-40k, whilst a purple would only be worh 5-8k imo.

I am one of those that look at functionality more than color. I have several purple weapons on various charectors & heros as I have been unable to find anything that is functionally better. Besides, a perfect purple bow might net me 150g while a perfect gold will net me 250+ gold. So I keep the purples and sell the golds.
As for selling it, good luck. I seem to be one of the few that pay more attention to function rather than color. |

The colour of a weapon does not affect the functionality of a weapon whatsoever. It may however be of concern to a potential buyer if you choose to sell it.
