PlayNC, misleading
I went to buy the GW nightsfalls from me and my wife. PlayNC had a deal going buy one get on 50% off
the restrictions given * Some restrictions apply: This offer valid from November 19, 2008 through January 5, 2009. "Guild Wars campaigns" refer to Guild Wars Game of the Year Edition, Factions?? and Nightfall??. Both purchases must be applied to the same account. When taking advantage of this promotion through either the PlayNC.com store or the Guild Wars in-game store, both purchases must be through the same store. so as i understood it the "account" was my playNC account i had to get to buy the game. Subject 50% off Guild Wars 1st email Customer (me) I want to purchase Guild Wars Nightfall as a gift as well get it for myself at half price. It does not give me the option to purchase Nightfall for 50% off only the other 2 Guild Wars. It doesn't say anywhere that I had to purchase 2 different versions, that I could not buy the Nightfall twice, one at the lower rate. How do I get another Nightfall at the discounted rate? response from playNC Hi Chris, Thank you for contacting Guild Wars Account Support. The promotion is intended for a second chapter purchase for the same game account, which is why a second access key for Nightfall does not qualify for 50% off. We apologize for any inconvenience. Also, when you purchase through the PlayNC Store, you can only apply purchases to that PlayNC master account. This means that if you are looking to purchase for another user, the access key would probably need to be purchased through that user's PlayNC master account. Otherwise, their game would be registered under your PlayNC master account, and you would have control of their account and not them. Let us know if you have any further questions. Thanks, John Guild Wars Account Support Response (GM Brad) My response, no response from playNC yet John, Thank you for the quick response. Because one has to apply the purchased game to the playNC account, I see your restrictions as extremely misleading. I am disappointed in the weak wording that was used not specifying the "game" account and "store" account. I have no interest at this time in buying a 2nd campain. Thank you for your time. Chris |

Oh, that really sucks, but it does say that they apply to the same account. The account being the master account--what support told you--so it's not so much poor wording, but a lack of knowledge as to how the PlayNC store works.
It's a shame that nothing can be done, but I hope you'll enjoy the campaign nonetheless. |

question then. can u apply a 2nd version of the same game that u buy from playNC account to a different game account?
yes it was a lack of understanding on how playNC works. but i did look up info in there FAQ and it looked like people had not included there game account number to the DL of the new game and there accounts were not linked. at least at the time not knowing that playNC created the game account. but if the above can be done I can still ask for the discount bc "account" is not defined, if i dont get it from them i will be going to my local game store. I am a regular user of steam, and there is never been a problem gifting a game and still getting the deal. I thought it would be the same type of thing. I dont thing they should be advertised as a store but an "in-game store" or something like that. sry just kind mad. its only $15 or something but still... We would of gotten a free MMO if we knew. (this is our 1st MMO so i do hope we enjoy it.) |

$15 is still quite a bit of savings, so it's understandable that you're upset. I'm not sure that it can be done, mergers have happened when a customer accidentally created two separate master accounts with two different campaigns.
So it's a real stretch, but you can try asking them if they can transfer the Nightfall campaign to your other/wife's account. Anything that you may have accomplished will be erased, though. |

Personally if I were you I'd go to the local gamestop or bestbuy or wherever and pick up the complete collection. It's going to be probably around $40-50. Best value imho. The GW store is a rip-off, full price and no boxset...

Don't let this turn you away. Personally it sucks that it is that way. But being the In-game/Online Store I understand their reasoning. But Guildwars really is a very nice game, great graphics, considering you do not need a top line comp to run, a user freindly character system..(can't shoot your self in the fot with miss spent points like in some games). Give it a try I'm sure you will not be disappointed. I hope it works out for you and your signifcant other playing together.
