Go through prophecies or what??
Im level 16 and im wondering, is it best to go through prophecies, then faction, then nightfall or does that story line not really build off of each other?

The storylines don't exactly build, but if you're on your first character I'd still recommend at least going through Prophecies first as it has less of a learning curve than the other games. It's a great introduction to the game mechanics, and really teaches you how to use the skills, unlike factions and NF which can sometimes feel like they're throwing you in the deep end.

Go Prophecies till you hit Lion's Arch, then go over to Nightfall to pick up at least a few heroes. Then you can go back to Prophecies and get threw that a little easier, then back to Nightfall to finish that and get the rest of the heroes and then on to Factions. If you have Eye of the North you may want to go their for a few skills first...
but that may just be me |

The storylines DO line-up with each other actually. Although which you do first, Prophecies or Factions, doesn't matter storyline wise (as it seems Prophecies happens RIGHT before Factions *i.e., Shing Jea missions occur while heroes are on the Ring of Fire Islands*), and Nightfall only links to Prophecies and Factions at the last 3 missions *and side-missions in that area*.
If you care about storyline, it wouldn't matter per say, but the last 3 missions of Nightfall would make more sense if you do Prophecies and Factions first, and the Charr and Asura storyline would make more sense if you do Prophecies. And of course, side-quests link all over. In short, if you are a lore/storyline fanatic and care about learning the basics first so you don't get confused with the hidden things in later games, then do them in order. If not, doesn't matter. |

Definitely get heroes if you have Nightfall and EoTN. Taking a detour to do this will not interfere with the storyline at all, and you will thank yourself later. The Prophicies henchmen are horrible, so if your not playing with humans then be sure to get you some heroes. |

You CAN do them in the order they were released - the storylines do sorta mean to go that way but you won't be terribly confused if you do them out of order. It is helpful to do proph first as that will give you the very best intro into playing the games. It can help to skip over to nf and pick up heroes, but its not completely necessary.

Since you are level 16 already, Go grab the heroes from Nightfall and bust that out. As an ele, you get SF and SH from Nightfall, and any benefits from the Prophecies pacing you have already received at level 16. You can always finish the storyline later.

On the hero issue.
If you have all 3 campigns you will get Mox in Lion's Arch, a lev 20 Dervish. You will also be given a choice or 3 quests. One is 'beneath Lion's Arch..gets you to Eye of the North.(see next paragraph) The second and third are 'Mhenlo's Request' and 'Sunspears in Kryta'. Sunspears will get you to Nightfall faster but it is VERY difficult with a low lev character and henchmen. I'd choose Mhenlo's request In Eye of the North ( do the quest 'Beneath Lion's Arch' ) you pick up Vekk ( lev 20 Elementalist ) and Ogden Stonehealer ( lev 20 Monk ). continue on the Eye of the North outpost for Gwen ( lev 20 Mesmer) In factions you can get a quest to get to Nightfall ( Sunspears in Cantha ) which will take you to Kamaden, a major city in Nightfall. On completing the quest...be sure to choose a full compliment of level 20 henchmen) you will be ported to Kamaden, a city in Nightfall. Once there 2 quests will be offered, take both! With the quest 'Battle Preperations you will gain Koss, a lev 15 Warrior, Meloni a lev 15 Dervish and Dunkoro a lev 15 monk....nice group! The second quest 'Zaishen Elite' in which you get to choose between Jin/ Ranger or Sousuki/Elementalist...both at lev 11. I would choose Jin. You can get an Elementalist as said above in EOTN in Vekk. After completing the quest 'Battle preperations' you can continue on and complete 'Securing Champion's Dawn' from quarrymaster Bohanna and get Olias, a lev ? Necromancer who can be very handy as a Minion Master. Have fun Ant Last edited by Antares Ascending; Nov 26, 2008 at 03:59 AM // 03:59.. |

go to lions arch in proph then go to night fall and then get heros and some good skills, can also go to eotn to get some good skills. do faction last cause it tends to be pretty hard.

If you wanna reduce headache, you should fetch heroes from Nightfall. Prophecies and Factions are entirely doable without heroes though.
Storyline wise, do the campaigns in the order the game came out. Prophecies first, Factions, Nightfall, then EotN. Prophecies and Factions are supposed to happen around the same time. Nightfall happens several years after Prophecies and Factions. EotN happens several years after Nightfall. |

go to nightfall, get a couple heroes(there useful little guys) then beat prophs,it moves along slower and gives you a really good chance to learn the game.
Also go out of Lions Arch and get MoX and go to Eye of the North and get Vekk and Ogden, they will already be level 20 and have usable bars, where koss melonni dunkoro and tahlkora(nf heroes) will have prety bad bars and not be level 20. and @poasiods any proof that nightfall is set after prophs/factions or is it just a guess? There's plenty of evidence that nf is based after prophs/factions in that the main antagonist in each one, the Lich King and Shiro have been killed/disembodied and sent to the underworld. The storyline/lore is clear that they were carrying out the work of Abaddon and when they were each vanquished, grenth sent them to the realm of torment, which is where all souls who have been touched by Abaddon in the mortal realm are sent. That grouped with the fact that the games were released in a chronological order with respect to the storyline and that the Mouvelian Calendar indicates the dates the story was set in that timeline and order. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Mouvelian_Calendar |

*Major Spoiler Alert*
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Timeline the events of nightfall happen approx 3 years after proph factions (and eye of the north happens 3 years after that apparently) And like Azazel said the campaigns only really tie together/have continuity errors and spoilers in the last 3 missions of nightfall so if the story is of concern to you I'd recommend beating both proph and factions before nightfall. It really is worth it to do the first bits of nf and/or eye of the north though, heroes make prophecies bearable if you aren't doing everything with people. The proph henchmen are really awful especially through Kryta and the Jungle where apart from having only one support/healer (who really is sub-par even on a good day) they are 2-5 levels below every enemy you'll be facing. Also it's important to note going to either eye of the north or factions once you reach lions arch will give you access to max armor and weapons (you have a much mroe limited selection in boreal station than in kaineng but it's your call). |
