is this a scam or actully helpful?
so my friend that plays guild wars was saying how he got ripped off a bunch of gold an was trying to figure out if there was a way to recover it at all. an i guess after quite a bit of asking in the game he came accross someone that said he should send an email to
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ [email protected] ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ i told him to wait an do not email that cuz he was told to put like account name an password an all that in the email an seeing as ive never heard of it i didnt want him giving his password so fast. so i came here to ask is there ne thing to this email or is it just one big ole scam. if someone could help me out here so i can tell him to go for it or dont you'll get screwed over that would be very helpful thanks |

it's pretty obvious that it's a scam.
just as future reference, you can never get back the gold you lose due to a scam. rather, smarten up and not fall for scams in the first place. |

All contact with ArenaNet is through the PlayNC support site. There is no direct email. You can check the FAQ there and if nothing addresses your problem then you Ask A Question and start a support ticket.
And FYI, the scam he fell for involved dropping his item/gold on the ground. The scammer then Shadow Stepped to him and picked it up. Scammer then zoned away and your friend was left standing there without his belongings. NEVER drop anything on the ground for any reason unless you no longer want it. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Scam

Added to that anytime you are asked for you account information it is a scam. Never ever give someone else your password.

never give your password to anything, not even a-net will ask for the direct account password. that scam is the most obvious of its kind, never drop anything on the ground unless you dont want it.

Sad thing is people are stupid enough to fall for it. At the very least, someone was wondering if it was legit when common sense tells you it is a scam. Glad your friend asked you, as he apparently doesn't have the common sense you do.

I know it may seem obvious, but a tip for the future is that a hotmail address will NEVER be used as an official means of communication for ANY company. Sometimes the obvious needs to be stated...
Still, well done on the foresight of bringing your confusion to people who might be able to answer you. There are many out there who would simply have gone ahead without stopping to think about legitimacy. |
