Two quick questions
A.) Can we have more than one character on a single game disc?
B.) If the answer to Question "A" is yes, can we share items between our characters? (i.e drops, armor, weapons.) Thanks! |

Yes, you can have more than one character per account. Further, you can share items between characters as long as the items aren't customized; the storage is shared across the account. However, since armor is automatically customized to the character who crafts it, it cannot be worn by any other character.

Are you talking about the discs that come in the box? You don't actually need those. Your account (you would have had to put in an account key) is stored on the ArenaNet servers, which are located somewhere in America. The CD would probably just have some information/screenshots/other stuff, aswell as the client (the thing that allows you to access the servers), which can be downloaded from the CD or the official website. Once you have the client, then you can use the key (thats really what you're paying for) to make an account so you can start playing.
Ok, now about the question, your account (depending on how many campaigns you have installed) will have a certain amount of character slots. If you only have one campaign I think its four. You can buy other campaigns either from a shop or the ingame store or just individual character slots (store only) if you want more slots. Quote:
Armor does not drop from monsters, you have to get it crafted. This armor is ALWAYS customised for your character, and cannot be used by anyone else (even by other characters on you account). Weapons can drop from monsters, although they can be crafted aswell. You can customise them if you want (this gives them bonus damage), but once again only that character can use them. There is no way to uncustomise something.

what you do need is the activation key that comes in the box this creates your GW account (once you have your account you can access it from any computer with the GW client installed) |

I always thought of the activation key like the Sims. You can get the GW program(client) for free from many places, but you need the key in the box to make an account. Once you download the game, on the stardup screen there will be a button that says "add a Key" or something. you just click that, add your account, etc. And when you want to add additional chapters or campaigns onto that account then you jsut click add a key again and add it to your account

I think you mean:
a) Can I play more than one player simultaneously on one account? And the answer is no. If you log in from a second computer or program instance, your first log-in will be logged out (been there, done that). ...So if you want to make your own party, you need to purchase a second key and open a second account. But then the answer to B) is, yes, you can share weapons, drops, and gold. Armor you cannot share; it is customized for the character, so while you can drop a piece of armor and the second character can pick it up, it cannot wear it (- pity, I SO wanted an elementalist with Warrior armor ). No one seems to be too sure what you mean by this - and I'm not either.
Characters are not stored on a game "disc" - perhaps you are thinking of the "save" modules that they have on some consoles like the Nintendo. For GW you create an account, and, depending upon how many campaigns you bought, you will have at least 4 character "slots" and as many as 8. These are not slots in any physical sense, such as a memory module, they are just the number of characters you are allowed to make. All the character info is stored on ANet's servers. So, I think the answer to your question is YES, you can have more than one character, but you can only play one at a time. Quote:

After the game is installed you can use the CD's as Frisbees if you like. But don't lose the key - even though you may never need it again, stuff does happen. Last edited by Quaker; Dec 16, 2008 at 03:38 PM // 15:38.. |
