Hi
I intend to use Texmod but yhere are rumors about viruses coming in .
Is Texmod safe ?
Can you recommend other tools?

If you download from a recognised site then I do not see any problems , I have heard rumours about viruses since I downloaded my version months ago and have yet to have a single problem .For other tools I recommend an adjustable spanner , and a phillips screwdriver.

Texmod doesnt do anything other than chane textures look at it like this

You are guildwars (everything inside you, your brain your bones your muscles etc)
Your clothes are the textures.

All texmod does is comes along and changes your clothes, it doesnt touch you in any way shape or form.

Ofcourse he means "textmod itself", not spyware, viruses or any other thing that you might get from downloading stuff on the internet.

You are guildwars
You download a naked patch for textmod (including virus)
You use the naked patch on textmod and go online/outside/whatever
Result: you have a nasty bugger.
Textmods fault?

So yes, textmod is safe, if you download it from link given above (I did and no problems what so ever)
Use at own risk (if you destroy your GW, it's your fault)
Yes, there can be viruses found on files you download and run with textmod.
So just be careful what you download.

Texmod itself is fine and just temporarily modifies textures.
However, many antivirus programs will think of it as a virus because of how it interacts with other programs (Guild Wars)

Texmod is often described as a "good" virus, in a way.

Yeah Texmod itself is safe used it for my Legendary Cartogrpher Title, saved me alot of headaches.

Though recently i'ts coming up as a virus from Macafee when it didn't before, though I haven't used it in a while so maybe some new defination update flags it now. And my scanner always removed it even when it didn't come up as a virus so I'd have to reinstall it after a scan, though now it wont run at all. Its weird.
