Just read this (solved)
Just read: u -can- travel between continents, but when travelling to tyria (prophecies) u'll be starting half-way through the storyline/campaign
really? if so, GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. I wouldn't like to create another character but is the half-way thing really thing really that bad? Or could I catch up somehwere with what happened already on the internet? --- I just realized that my topic title sounds like a command, but it was read (like red), not read (like reed). Anyways, thanks. Even if it's pointless in the larger scheme of things, at least you can do it. I'd like to experience everything 1 time at least. Each of the continents has a starter storyline that links you into the bigger storyline. Without spoiling it's basically "Oh no, the problem we thought was linked to our little town is actually much bigger, oops!"
When you go to a new continent, the quest dialogue, NPC Dialogue and cutscene dialogue will pretty much bring you up to speed as to what went on, and how it doesn't concern you as a foreigner. That being said, you can go back to earlier missions to relive things yourself. In the case of suddenly appearing 7 missions into Prophecies, you can walk back to the (almost) start (I say almost, because you can't go back to the very start area, as it's cut off from the rest of the world - you can leave it, but you can't go back. ever.). In the case of the other two chapters, it's 2 or 3 missions. Both of which will have a linking storyline for foreigners as to why you're in this new place helping new NPCs with their new problems. So! To answer your question. No, it's not bad at all. Just take the time to read what the game says. And if you're still confused, then take a look at the wiki missions page to figure out what you missed, it will link you to any quests in between too |

From Lion's Arch, if you want to relive the Prophecies storyline, you'll need to run/walk back to Ascalon City. This will be a bit of a challenge if you are unfamiliar with the maps. It's a bit of a long hike. Occasionally you can find a runner in LA willing to take you.

lol u couldnt have jus kept this in the original thread?
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10357822 factions and nitefall r okie to travel to because they r not as far into the game and u can very easily backtrack (its really really easy to do so) nitefall even gives u an overview but proph, if u've never played the campaign before, i really do recommend making a proph chara to experience the storyline if u've already played the storyline, its not a big deal at all or even if the storyline isnt important to u, then u dun have to bother wit it but yea, u'll start roughly halfway through and if u do plan on travelling backwards, its really unfriendly to do so compared to factions or nitefall (read: u'll have to hire a runner most likely if ur new) even moreso, u will not be able to go all the way back to the very beginning u can only go to post-searing ascalon u'll not be able to go to pre-searing no matter wut unless u make a new proph chara |

Why don't you just try it to see for yourself instead of overreacting?

As Prophecies was the original Guild Wars, it is set up differently than Factions or Nightfall. While pre searing Prophecies is the "tutorial" region to teach new players the basic mechanics, your character is actually evolving and growing through the campaign, typically not reaching level 20 until reaching the desert. With Factions and Nightfall, the "tutorial" areas are Shing Jae Island, and Istan, where characters reach lvl 17-20 by the time they finish (if you do all the quests, and activities available).
Normally, when you are traveling from Factions or Nightfall to Lion's Arch you would be in that lvl 17-20 range since travel is not available until you are ready to leave the "tutorial" areas, so you start in an area of Prophecies that more closely matches your levels. As mentioned, you can run backwards through Prophecies to Ascalon and do all the early missions (you will not get any xp for doing so) to complete your Protector title.
