i was reading a thread the other day and i saw someone talking about how they have an entire account dedicated to only characters which he kept in presearing permanently. Im just wondering wut is the point of having a permenant pre character? (unless ur going for ldoa)

For the idilic love of pre lol. Some people have just beated most or all of the game and prefer spending their time in a nice envirronment (w/e I spell it ) like pre searing. And ofc get LDoA then

Pre-Searing is pretty. That's basically the reason why I have a perma-pre character.
I'm really not a fan of Prophecies past Post-Searing until Kryta, so yeah. Perma-pre means I have a Prophs character that I actually play. |

It's like a mini-version of GW how it was when Prophecies came out, some people like that.

Time for me to Chime in as it were.
I have a whole account dedicated to presearing for several reasons some of which are mentioned above. First off there are guilds solely dedicated to presearing. I am not in one but I am the only perma pre in my guild. This allows me to help other members of my guild as they venture to level up with a prophecies character. Making Gold has also been mentioned. Before the weekend started I have a net wealth of - Mini Gwen - Mini Destroyer - Mini Rurik - 18% Vrs Char Pommel -3 Black Dye -10Kish Since the start of the weekend I am now up to 13 Black dye and 110,000 Gold. So I increased my net wealth to 441,000. I am no where near the top 100 richest in pre. I will take the 100K in Gold and turn that into 200K in post as pre gold is worth twice as much as post gold. Farming a four-leaf clover in pre and selling it yields 200 gold in profit. Not bad when you can farm a stack of them in 2 days. (100K post gold right there) Next is the farming areas. There are mobs of very low level foes. You can obliterate them with one hit from the Fire Imp. I farm a specific place that is not that well known cause the foes are spread out a bit but with cupcakes I can round them up in half the time and kill 40+ foes in around 1.5 minutes. Its better than Rapters and 0 chance of death and no build needed since its the imp that kills the foes. Then there is the Legendary Defender of Ascalon Title. What we are defending I do not know cause my lvl 18 55% to 19 war has died almost 72,000 times! I will not get lvl 20 yet cause the imp is INSANE at lvl 18. Lvl 19 will be just stupid. Now to the real reason people have 2 accounts in pre as I do. STORAGE and Transferring items form one character to another. I have one account that has all the campaigns on it and GW:EN. My "solo" account only has Prophecies and 4 characters that are perma pre's. Since I have a tower and a laptop I simply log in with both accounts and I can transfer goods around on all of my 7 perma pre toons. Remember that you can only hold 100K in gold and there is no storage to put 1,000,000.00 gold I have 1 character that is my LDoA and 5 storage toons. My last toon is a MULE. He carries stuff that I have salvaged to run to post such as Iron and Charr Hides. There is a trader for the hides in Ascalon that turns them into FUR - 4 for 1 The last is the community. When there is a new player - can tell because they do not have a guild and are lvl 1 or someone from a different campaign asking where the chest is or the weapon smith - the community does not bad mouth this player. These threads are full of people bad mouthing others and calling them stupid and nobs. Not like that in pre. Everyone is EQUAL in pre. As a matter of a fact EVERY toon has a Real person playing it. There are no hero's or henchmen and you must team up with someone else to get the res sig and to open the gate to the Northlands. There are titles to show off in pre now too. You can do fame emotes and get drunk. Speaking of which, the only place to get free ales is in pre. I can average 50 an hour and get enough ales in 200 hours to max a title. One hour a day grinding there mixed with some AB make for a great eventing of fun. Hum, there is also story time in Fobil Fair in the evenings. Someone logs on and tells stories - its a real person - and that can be fun too. You can cap a bear and do some other quests or kill some charr or just hang out with Gwen. The graphics are breath taking and there are interesting little quirks to pre such as the Brown Bunny on the hill that just sits there and the hidden areas and caves that do nothing at all. It seems that more thought went into this little part than the rest of the game as a whole after all, first impressions are important when playing a game - ESPECIALLY the Gamers that you FIRST MEET! So as you can see there are many reasons to have a toon that stays in presearing. The biggest for me is the community cause I like to help people out that are just starting and have no clue..some I even invite to join the guild that I am in. |
