Hey people, i am about to buy guild wars. Can i buy nightfall by itself or do i need one of the first two to buy it? And is nightfall the best out of the first 3?

You can buy NF by itself. As far as 'best', its all about opinions. I believe you can get packages now for all three campaigns rather cheaply.

Really. You should buy trilogy. Any other choice is just a bad idea at this point.

Buy a full package as opposed to only Nightfall. I recommend starting with Prophecies, but if you will limit yourself to only one, NF should be the better choice. Not much of a learning period, but the skills are superior to what Proph offers

NF is also good for heros, but if you can splurge and get the trilogy, you really should, just to have the whole array of skills.

I strated with Factions. Bad idea

I tried Prophecies and Nightfall with a 14 day trial from an EotN pre release deal.

I really enjoyed the little that I did play of NF and I was hoping to get it soon, but from what everyone else has said I'll try and get both, but instead of factions I'll try Eye of the North

u can buy each campaign seperately, but it is extremely beneficial to have all 3 + EOTN. as for nightfall, i would take it over prophecies or factions because NF allows u to have heros from the beginning. heros are extremely helpful
