It's with a heavy heart that I must inform you that this site, Guild Wars Guru, will be shutting down on July 1st and will remain in Archive Mode. Over the past 11 years, we've become, and continued to remain, the #1 fansite for Guild Wars, and it's all because to you guys. Without such a strong and passionate community, Guru would have never made it this far and so we thank you for that.
And while we will be saying good-bye to our home here, we will continue to host forums for the GW community over at our sister site, Guild Wars 2 Guru. In fact, you are more than welcome to head on over now and begin posting. If you have any threads you'd like to transfer over, now would be the time.
So once again thank you, and especially those that contributed their time and knowledge to make Guru the amazing place it was. We'll see you over at Guild Wars 2 Guru!

Guild Wars completely re-downloading.
I log into Guild Wars yesterday, and the entire client begins downloading, as if the game is re-installing itself, now logging in i need to download something like 50k files. This is extremely annoying, as the download rate is rather slow.
I havent tampered with the Guild Wars file locations, just wondering what may have caused this, and if it has happened to anyone else.
Note: As of a few minutes ago i noticed a GW dat file and a GW temp tile on my desktop, i didn't put them there
I had this happen once before and I assume its because of the Gw.dat file being corrupted either by in-game play somehow or something in your hard drive causing it, although I heard another reason was bad memory causes data loss but meh i don't know.
Overall I think you shouldn't worry too much unless it happens again.

All fixed!
I managed to fix it! I just replaced the files in the Guild Wars folder with the desktop files, and named the launcher and the files the same thing (i.e. Gw), the client repaired the archive, and now all is running smoothly.
My friend plays on Dial Up, 3 hours to download GW (as of 2 months ago when he installed it) then 1 hour loading pre Searing ascalon lol (he only has Prophs)
He recently got Broadband though, 512k, he lives in the middle of no where, so its wireless, which makes it just as good as dial up again, but with an extra 10 KB/S
