dose anyone know why this was changed people tell me you used to be able to "skate" on it?

Ye, they removed it due to the same reason skiing was removed from snowy areas and surfing on the beach.

I highly doubt skating was possible at some point... they were probably just fooling around.

No such thing ever existed as far as I knew in the main game.

There was a discontinued Snowball skill that I believe was called "Ice Skates", but I can't find a trace of it on either wiki, and it was never actually put into play.

You used to be able to bug yourself to look like you were skating on ice or something like that. The bug was removed.

I'm pretty sure if you did something and then held the up arrow and one of the side arrows, you could move across the ice diagonally without taking steps. People did it all the time in Marhan's Grotto.

Yeah I miss that, back when Grotto was "the spot to be" and everyone did odd emotes while skating.
