knight's vs stalwart insignia
****CLOSE****
found answer on http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Damage_calculation on a war, which is better vs physical damage? -3 dmg (knights) or +10 armor (stalwart) if its important, my character has 80+20+16+10+7 = 133 armor vs physical so would 143 armor be better than 133 with -3 dmg? dbulger,
To be honest, you have plenty of Armor vs. Physical with just your base Max Armor (80) the bonus vs. Physical that is on all Warrior armor (+20), and your base Max Shield armor (+16). Unless you are specifically targetting Physical-damage only enemies (if you were farming Minotaurs, Smite Crawlers, or Raptors, for example) it's going to be better for you to have increased armor vs. Elemental damage (Sentinel's insignia for +20 vs. Elemental if you have at least 13 Strength or Dreadnought's insignia for +10 vs. Elemental if you do not) and instead of the +10 vs. Blunt/Piercing/Slashing inscription on your shield take a +10 vs. Cold/Earth/Fire/Shocking. If you did that, you could have: 80 base 20 vs. Physical armor bonus 10/20 vs. Elemental insignia bonus 16 Shield bonus 10 vs. Cold/Earth/Fire/Shocking shield inscription bonus 116 vs Physical 106/116 vs Elemental 116/126 vs Cold/Earth/Fire/Shocking (depending on which shield you carried) Also, if you are using an armor buff skill in your build ([Watch Yourself!] [Dolyak Signet] [Physical Resistance] [Great Dwarf Armor] [Defy Pain] just as a few examples - they aren't needed unless you are Farming, in general play, don't waste skillslots on them) you are probably Farming a Physical damage mob, and would do well to take Knight's insignias to clean up the minimal damage that would be getting through, as well as a -2 Stance/-2 while Enchanted Shield inscription, so long as you could maintain the condition to keep the reduction from the shield up.

Spear > Tank (only if you played civ)
But if your in pve you want high skills so you'll have one gold one purp and blue runes meaning 75+50=-125hp so at least make that up with runes then go to armor. Of course I never raptor farm on a war (i just tried it on an ele and I killed 12) |
