Nightfall...now to buy EOTN or complete collection?
Hello all, new guy here. Well sort of. I bought nightfall two years ago or something, didnt play it then because of lack of time, and i just got back into the game now, properly this time. So here goes the question:
I have nightfall, and now i dont know if i should buy EOTN only or complete collection? People tell me that if i dont have all games, i wont be good in PVP because i wont have all skills, is that true? How handicaped will i be with nightfall and EOTN only? Few facts: i dont care abaut story, dont care if i dont have ALL spells/abbilities (as long as i can still be good in PVP), i only care abaut dungeons, PVP and gear. Also dont care if i dont have assassin and that other class to play. Also dont care if im missing some island or something. So do you think its worh for me buying whole collection or is it good enough if i buy EOTN only? IF i buy complete collection, can i keep my nightfall account and only install missing parts, so basically "throw away" the nightfall part/DVD in complete collection? I know its cheap now, but in my country, EOTN sells for 20EUR, and complete collection for 50EUR. But if its important, im prepared to buy complete collection. Thank you all very much for helping me out. |

I guess no you don't need it... explore nightfall and have fun since you own it. Also you can play PVP without all the skills especially lower end stuff RA FA JQ Some TA but again depends on what you are trying to do. HA will require set skills or you will be frowned on.
All and all EOTN is fun and has dungeons and some powerful PVE skills so if it is cheap buy pick it up. But if you strapped for cash wait. |

If you by complete collection it has no effect on you current account just adds char slots and access to more of the game. If you are woried about pvp then just buy the pvp stuff in the online store and you can save up for everything else later.

If it's just PvP that you're worried about then just do as dark_prince2023 said and just buy the skill unlock packs.
If you just want more heroes and extended PvE playability, get EotN. If you want the whole kit & caboodle, get the complete collection.

i'd rather have the collection of the 3 main campaigns over just buying eotn.
EoTN doesn't have new elite skills for pvp just a few good regular skills like patient spirit and castigation signet those two pop into my mind atm. Edit: PvP only characters have max gear requiring no grind to earn them other than unlocking items/skills through balthazar faction or in pve by identifying items or buying skills with gold or tomes. PvE character have can get max armor fairly fast and cheap. Its just appearances are diffrent than pvp unless spending your reward points on gear. Don't forget when pvping theres your secondary profession skills that come in to play. So by saying you don't care to not have assassins etc you'll limit positions you can play in pvp especially GvG rituallist too. i.e. ele/rit or rit/assassin flag runners. I peronally don't find dungeons all that great. They have to feel of once you done a few dungeons feels like you've done them all. Since many reuse same levels so some of it will look the same in appearance. Last edited by JASON626; Apr 21, 2009 at 07:13 PM // 19:13.. |

EoTN has amazing skills such as foul feast, spotless mind, patient spirit, etc...
However, not getting Prophecies and Factions and trying to PvP is a complete waste of time because of the insane amount of Elite skills you will be missing. |

I might not be right on this, but I believe you just add the code from the collection set and you will get access to the new campaigns. The game is already on your computer and nothing will be removed.

EoTN has few things of interest to the PvP side of play. Still, it is pretty cheap. You might want to look into buying the Factions Platinum edition which includes both Proph and Factions and then getting EoTN.

You don't need to uninstall anything. Log in to your existing account, then click the Edit Account button in the lower left, under your character boxes, choose Manage Access Keys, click next, then click the Add Key button.

You already have everything installed* (in a sense, its all 1 big game), you just need the key from the box to grant you access to the rest of it.
(*it might not actually be on your hard-disk, but anything missing will be streamed to you sneakily while you play) |

So if i have only nightfall installed, how can i have EOTN installed if EOTN was not even out yet then? So basically i dont even need to put complete edition DVD in my PC? Just start up nightfall and upgrade accaount and thats it? Will EOTN be downloaded or something? I really dont get this.

In the log in screen, click on "Create Account or Add a New Key" under the password field.
It will take you to a screen where you can enter the key from the DVD you just bought, and you add it to your existing account. BE CAREFUL that you ADD it, not create a new account. There you go, you now have access to Factions and Prophecies and EotN No need for anything else, although if you got a trial key or buddy key, you might want to check the stickies in this forum. Or give them to a friend. |

So if i get it right, i dont need to uninstall or install nothing? Dont even have to put the new complete collection DVD in my PC?
So even if i only have nightfall, i have all others including EOTN installed and ready to play now? Or will the game download other packs including EOTN? |

Nope, no install, no uninstall. No need to take out the DVD from the box
You have MOST of the content downloaded already, yes. You will likely have to download small bits and pieces as you load in the new areas, but it will probably not be over 100-200 Mb in total. |

since your getting all the games now you could do what is called an image. just confuse you more lol. Its where you download every available file to date at once so you won't have to load each new town, explorable areas and mission and wait.
just right click on your guild wars desktop icon, goto properties, under target add a space then the word -image, click ok. "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image Then double click the icon like load the game and it'll load all files. Once all files get loaded go back and delete the -image. and load up the game and play. |

OK guys i went in shop today and i saw that there is basically no difference if i buy complete collection or every chapter on its own, i decided to go one by one. So i picked EOTN today. And i noticed there was a DVD in a box which surprised me since its an addon and you said that whole game is allready installed anyway. So whats on that DVD? Is it just another installation disc same as nightfall one? So i still dont have to take that new DVD from the box and just upgrade account and play?
Sorry for me beeing complicated but dont want to mess something up. Short: if i have nightfall installed, i only need to take the EOTN activation card out, upgrade account and play? No need to put EOTN DVD in PC? |

No need to put the EotN DVD in. Just the Account Upgrade
On the DVD you have the EotN data as it was at launch. It's only useful when you install it from 0, as it saves time from downloading. |
