Un-ID's
I was just wondering what the significance behind unidentified golds is. Anyone care to explain all possibilities, like trading or using, regarding unidentified golds?

Identifying a gold item gives you one point towards the Wisdom title track. That's why people buy them. And people sell them to make cash, although I usually equip any golds I get to check for fortitude mods.
Due to the fact that most golds sold are from eotn and max damage, it's also a good source of mods and inscriptions or just gear. |

i used to sell em for cash when farming eotn veattirs, but now i ID them for weapon mods i want/need, which also goes to wisdom title track, or to slap a weapon on a hero that i dont care about, then merch the rest, or give away to low levels chars in ascalon.. i make all my cash from dungeon runnin so unids are jsut for title/mods now:P

So, if I were to randomly obtain 7 or so unidentified golds, each max stats or otherwise, people would generally pay 4.5-5k for the set? If I were to try and sell an individual unidentified gold that is not max stats, would that affect the tendency of a person to buy it? Or do most people buy unid golds solely for the wisdom title track?
Thanks for the responses; most were helpful. Link please? What doesn't matter? Mind being more descriptive? |

P.s. - You can check for some mods on unID's by equipping them. Any mods on them will work even if they are not identified. For example, if you equip an unID'd and your health goes up by 30, you know that the unID has a +30 health mod on it. Similarly, you can tell if it has +5 energy. With some more testing you could determine other mods, but it gets to the point of being a mis-use of your time after a while. |

I have been playing this game for years and that's the first time I have heard of that little trick. So if I was to equip an unid gold sword and it had a +30 hp mod, how much would they go for would you say?
I will probably be farming them tommorow now so I gotta check that out. |

here's a small list of how to easily determine mods on unidentified weapons:
-health mods: equip and watch health bar -energy mods: equip and watch energy bar -vampiric mods: equip in an explorable area, see if you get health degeneration -zealous mods(/seize the day inscription): equip and watch your energy regen (also works in outposts) -damage type modifiers: Almost every weapon has a damage type (piercing, slashing, blunt). If your unid weapon has an elemental damage modifier, it will change your weapon description slightly (almost unnoticable to the common player). to explain with an example, let's say you find this gold longsword. if it doesn't have a damage type modifier, the weapon description reads "Slashing dmg:xx-xx". however if it DOES have a damage type modifier, it will read "Dmg: xx-xx". I never ID any wands, bows or hammers, because they have worthless weapon mods. |
