I bought Guild Wars: game of the year edition its coming in the mail and will probably be here by friday. My question is if I download and install the trial version and make a character can I just upgrade my account to full version and keep the same game install too?

Sorry got one more quick question the "game of the year edition" has "Bonus Items: This special edition of Guild Wars?? includes seven exclusive weapons, and a Fire Imp combat ally to assist in your adventures." Will I get that stuff when i update my account with a access key or would i have to make a new character or account? I just dont want to waste alot of time leveling up if i have to restart

If you have ordered the Game of the Year edition of Guild Wars: Prophecies (the first game), then no. You will not be able to play on ritualists, assassins, dervishes and paragons, since they are only available in Guild Wars: Factions (assassins and ritualists) and Guild Wars: Nightfall (paragons and dervishes).
Welcome to Guild Wars EDIT: Your account will have those items unlocked; that means you can type /bonus while in a town or outpost in-game to receive all of your bonus items, including those very nice weapons. (They are extremely good if you start a prophecies character, since you won't be able to get such high weapon bonuses until you are almost at the end of the game). One more piece of clarification: the only difference between the GotY edition and a regular Prophesies pack are the /bonus weapons. All characters, areas, quests, etc. are the same.

Welcome to GW!
You won't be wasting your time playing the trial character(s), you can add the Fire Imp and /bonus weapons anytime once you activate the key. And you can do that multiple times on each character, so all of them can have the Imp and whichever weapons & focus items you want to use with each, even if you delete them. The Serrated Shield is very useful and can be used on any character, not just a warrior, plus it looks better than most shields you'll find early in the game. That +30 health is really nice for a new character and you'll get +8 armor bonus too. The Luminescent Scepter is useful for casters (the +5 to energy) and the Soul Shrieker staff is nice for a necromancer. |
