Can't get NM nightfall Book?
I have completed prophecies, factions and nightfall. I got all the books except the NM nightfall book. I just learned about and got them today. For some reason the npc does not give me the option to get the NM version of the nightfall book. Why and is there a way I can get the NM version of the book?
I have both flameseeker books, both faction books, heroes of tyria and the NM books for eotn. Just incase that may play a role in my problem. I have tried putting the books in storage, but that just allows me to get more copies of the same book. I am afraid that because I already finished NF in NM that I can no longer get the book, but it makes no sense that I could get the NM versions of factions and prophecies but not nightfall considering I have finished them all. I never got those books before, and never completed them. Is this a glitch? Should I contact the game provider so they might possibly allow me to gain this version of the book? I'd really like to have all the books and it would be a real shame if I am unable to aquire the NM version of the nightfall book. Semi related additional questions. Once a book has been filled out completely, after turning it in, can I gain another empty book? When a fully completed book is turned in, what is the reward? Thank you very much for any and all replies. |

Ok once you've completed and turned in a book you may get another copy. The reward for turning in books is, gold, exp, faction, and/or title points. If you complete a mission in say eotn and then went and got a book the npc would not give you the option of paying to get it put in. You'd have to get the book then complete the mission to have the option of getting it put in.
As for you're problem with the NF book idk. You may be trying to get it from the wrong npc. I beleive you get NF books from a secrets guy in chantry of secrets. |

In EotN, you can't hand in NM books to a certain group (Norn, Rats, Ebon Vanguard, Dwarves) once you hit level 8 in their rep title, and AFAIK, you can't even get a new NM book if you're past level 8 in all 4 titles. I'd imagine, like in EotN, once you've hit a certain level in both LB and SS titles, you can't get a new NM book on that character.
Wiki confirms I was right: Acquisition * Nightfall o Sunspear Great Hall + Captain Ahkenchu [Sunspear Signalman] You can acquire and turn in a Normal Mode book from Captain Ahkenchu only if your Sunspear rank is below Sunspear Castellan (8). o Chantry of Secrets + Source of Whispers [Lightbringer Scrivener] You can acquire and turn in a Normal Mode book from Source of Whispers only if your Lightbringer rank is below Conquering Lightbringer (5). http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Night_Falls Next time, try reading the wiki before posting a question. |

Ok, so it looks like other folks explained about why you can't get the NM Nightfall books anymore.
As for your other questions ... http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Storybook I usually go there whenever I, myself, have book questions. I've found the linked articles quite helpful. You can get one book, fill it in, turn it in, then get another book and repeat. You can get multiple copies of the same book by asking for a book, putting it in storage, then asking for another book. Say you have three HM NF books in inventory and you do the Crossroads mission in HM. That'll give you credit in the first book in storage. If your plan is to fill out multiple books, be careful to move another book in front before you repeat the mission or the credit will be lost. (The game updates the first book it finds in storage, whether or not that book still needed the entry.) If you do a mission without a book in your inventory, you should be able to speak to one of the book NPCs in that campaign and pay 100g to get the credit added to a book. This doesn't work for missions you did before Nov 2008, when they updated the game to include these books. If you look at the links for each specific book off the page I gave you, there are nice tables listing the rewards for each different kind. At the top of the page, there's usually a listing of each entry for the book. Under that is a Content box for the article - there's a link in the content box to the section on rewards. That's the section you want. It's certainly up to you what you collect, but I don't think there's any reason to keep copies of all the books around just to have. The books are a way to get a nice chunk of gold, xp, and title points for a character that finishes all the missions. Once you've maxed your titles and have more skill points than you need, the only real reward is the gold. At that point, it's a question of do you find the effort to gold reward ratio of filling in those books worth it. They are a nice way to max the rep titles. My main character has maxed all the NF and EotN rep titles, so I just carry a Young Heroes and a HM Factions book - both of which can be turned in for Luxon or Kurzick title points. Hope it helps, Luny |

If your Sunspear and/or Lightbringer rank is too high (8/5) you will not be given a NM Nightfall book.

And if you have books not turned in once you hit those ranks, you'll be unable to turn them in.

Thanks for the additional info, folks! Very helpful! I originally wanted to have 1 to turn in and 1 to keep forever, as I have a stupid interest in collecting crap for no reason. You should see my special event/festival item collection.
Two final questions, I'm gonna crash out and will read this when I wake up and I'll check wiki later if I don't get any replies. 1. Are Normal mode and Hard mode versions of the book the same? In other words, do they fill out and have the same info? If so then I can just keep a completed HM version of each book and not worry about the NM versions. (for my collection of useless crap that eats up storage space) 2. Does there come a time when you can no longer get HM versions of the books? A specific Rank? I'm guessing no, and you can just keep doing the HM books over and over again, But I could be wrong. Thanks for any and all replies. |

This includes doing all Missions on NM and HM, all Dungeons on NM and HM, carthographing EotN and vanquishing every area in EotN. Especially vanquishing gives you a lot of points on HM. That way, your tracks get a nice boost already, saves you some of the 'grinding' for books. |
