How did YOU get start farming in DoA?
I'm not asking for builds, strategies, or whatnot. I was simply wondering how most of the more experienced people on here began farming in the Domain of Anguish. I always hear about how great it is for making money, for example. But people don't seem to simply accept anyone. And with good reason I suppose, if it really is the most difficult area in the game.
Is it something that one only learns to do through guilds/friends, or is there a certain PuG aspect to DoA farming? If it matters at all, I have a monk there, with maxed LB. |

When i first got there it was 3 years ago I think. At the time balance was ran, and there was usually a full district there. You could find a pug if you had high lb rank and had the build. But back then usually a run consisted of 1 or 2 areas simply because it would take around 8 hours to do a full run in nm. Oh it was also you either had ts or vent because if you didn't have the one your team had you got kicked.

Yeah, the whole idea of balanced teams seems to be less popular. Not to mention, there seems to be a lot less people simply LFG. How would you go about getting in a run now?

Well for a while it was really easy, all you needed was ursan, but after ursan was nerfed it went cryway. To be honest I haven't done anything in the GoA since ursan was nerfed. I'm not sure what the team build is now since cryway was changed. I would recommend going on PvX wiki and finding the builds used now. With you being a monk you should not have an issue getting a group though. You might even be able to find a guild group who needs a monk, which would be good for you because they are usually a lot better than pugs.

I'm afraid I might not do a decent job, seeing as I may have the build, but I don't know anything (nearly) about the area. Are there guides/videos on fighting in the DoA? Or is it something that changes with every nerf/update?

I recalled for a PuG a while back, pre cry nerf, and the run went fairly well. I got started in DoA when i joined my current guild, and they were doing DoA quite often. That is how i suggest you get started in DoA. Join a guild/alliance that does it and join in.

I first did a couple back in the ursan days. Then joined my current guild, which does frequent hm speed clears of all elite areas. So yeah, find a good guild. Many of the best will want you to already have some experience there, so start with any guild that says they do doa and keep moving around till you find one that actually does (many say they do, but once a month or less)

I'll have to retell some memories (tear) it was back when perma's could solo chaos plains.
The first proper farming i was ever shown, made a few cash there, back when ectos were a bomb. Never thanked my friend properly for that.. Now it's Kathandrax all the way. |

PvXwiki has the DoA builds under Team Builds. Here is a link.
http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Category:G...vE_team_builds I think you should practice the monk build until you know the skills, then try for a group.
