Have you seen the guild wars intro movie? I think thats what it is anyway...
I'm not sure when it first went onto the website but it doesnt mention gw2.
It seems like it's about gw2, cause it says about a new threat from the west with those... things... those gargoyle sort of things that attack cynn, devona and aidan. Its set in a place that seems nothing like anything in gw1, theres alson that huge undead dragon.

It's the Prophecies trailer.

The threat from the west probably all the Undead taking over Kryta, don't know exactly anymore.

And yeah, Prophecies trailer. Some details like "threat to the west" turned out to be "threat from the north" ie, charr, i think. Just a bunch of details got changed along the way. No one really knows for sure. The trailer was probably done early on and a bunch of things changed.

I know this is off topic, but did anyone else notice the colossal scimitar, in the Alpha test trailer ;o think it was about 1.47

Haha, glad they changed it, I remember the screenshots but never seen this movie.
You can see warriors holding FDSs and also about 1:17mins through the video there is a warrior to the left of the big green Ettin that is holding a colossal scimitar, also more visible at 1:45mins.
Also about 1:21 you can see Devona getting knocked down on the ground, recognize her from her armor.

The cinematic is on the disc of Guild Wars Prophecies. It seems like they made it before changing plot elements because it doesnt include Mhenlo or Eve, seems to depict an area we've never seen and shows unknown enemies (who look like Undead). But it does show the Scepter of Orr and a possible first version of the Lich. So it was probably made as they were getting the final story.

There are two others, one of which was an ad and the other being the factions cinematic

Yeah i suppose it could just be an old video from early stages of development, but when was it first put onto the website?
The graffics looked bad back then, better that runescape though!

that should have tipped you off that it was GW1.

And yeah, definitely about GW1 since GW2 is set several hundred years in the future from GW1 and Cynn, Devonna, and Aidan would be long dead by then.

The trailer that GW went with was a winner. Even tho Devona is wielding a sword. Guess it wouldn't do to pop the big guy ( Executioner?) with a hammer and watch him get knocked on his butt instead of the finality of a sword thrust causing him to fall of the ledge.
