Default Survivor Title

Hey guys! I'm trying for the Survivor title in Factions, and I was wondering if resigning counts as a death? And is it hard? I'm already level 3 and have been REALLY cautious.

resigning will NOT add to the death count. There are plenty of guides for survivor all over guru and the official wiki. just head over there and search the title. Tons of hints and links. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Survivor

how difficult it is depends on ur character type and playing style
also what things u try to do to get survivor
certain areas are more risky than others
depends what builds u use
whether u risk going with public pickup groups... don't if u can help it at all
i'm workin on survivor on my new ritualist... need 600k more exp and i'm legendary or w/e the hell it is lol

To answer you question, the first tier of survivor is about level 20 without dieing. Indomitable Survivor is 587,500 xp, and Legendary Survivor is 1,337,500 xp without dieing.

You will need approx 1337k exp for maxing the title. Your profession plays a great deal in the difficulty of achieving this. It's a lot easier and less risky on a ranger than for example a sin. A few general tips:

1. Play a backline support if possible. If you're a sin, go A/R and use a bow. Maximize your armor and HP as early as possible. More HP really makes a difference here as it's less chance mobs will attack you in the first place.

2. Know the areas you're about to do ahead with previous characters you played. It only takes 1 mistake. For example, watch out for Afflicted Yijo in end of Zen Daijun, his spirit rift has been known to kill many survivor candidates.

3. Bring a running skill if possible (and rebirth if monk primary/secondary). Better to leg it when things starts to get messy and rebirth your team. Also bring Protective Spirit or other defensive skill, especially before you go against bosses like Afflicted Yijo.

4. Never get too overconfident, this is one of the big sins a survivor could do. I've fallen for this myself.

5. Avoid PUGs as much as possible, play with trusted friends/guild when possible. I lost survivor on this as well, hench/heroes are more more reliable.

6. Finally, my last and best tip is to level survivors together with a friend and get reliable heroes early. This way you both know what's at stake, and you have someone to progress with without the need to look for PUGs.

be careful when you resign, there's a (rare?) random bug that makes it count as a death
(i had this once 10k xp from r3, don't know if this is fixed already)

and be carefull when encountering lag, it killed my +1000k xp survivor working to tier 3 this weekend, so I had to start over again. So I can't stress it to much don't play survivor chars when you feel you having the minimum off lag since that is enough at the wrong time!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know how. I only went as far as Indomidable survivor on my Dervish(now a mule). I was about 2 hours away from going criminally insane from all the punchout runs.

resigning does not count towards death count...however, if you plan to resign to try to stop an incoming death, this is not the greatest idea because there may be a 3-5 second delay from typing /resign to when it actually takes place. so if your taking heavy dmg, and want to prevent a death, imo the best choice would be to press "g" and map to your guild hall, which will happen instantaneously.

Be wary of lag spikes (quite common, now, unfortunately). If you have a laggy comp or are having heavy bouts of lag, you may want to steer clear of this option. The map is not quite instantaneous. I've lost survivor this way. If you're going assassin, or can go assassin secondary, use shadow of haste before any mob that looks particularly rough and dash out before mapping. Also, one thing that helped me, pick a hit point (say 1/4 of your health) and if you get to that, get out. Sure, a monk can and may save you, but the time you waste on running the mission again is far less than rerolling your character.

And, please, if you're pugging, tell your team. It's not their fault you're going for survivor (really, this shouldn't need to be said, but sadly, it needs to be said).
