NCSoft message
I was playing GW. Opened MSN and sent a message to a friend, when this message popped up:

Also found this old thread: http://guildwarsguru.com/forum/showt...s+st ored+Msn What I wanna know is: since I don't play L2, and my msn adress is not related to my GW account, are they storing my chat records? And why did I receive this message? Do I have to care about it? Thanks, Kaj. |

lol do a google on your forum names sometimes. You talk about what doesn't sound legal. Sometimes it has every post you ever made right there to be googled. So, monitoring your chat channel is really no different. BIG BROTHER has been watching you for years now. The internet is not consider PRIVATE by a long shot. They even do it here. Goto your profile page or anyones profile page and click on statistics then look for the link "find all posts by so n so". Is that legal?

Do you have NProtect on your machine? (if you installed Aion, you definitely do). That thing is an NCSoft rootkit that snoops on all sorts of stuff. For example, it pops up a little window when I log into my online bank account.

I'm pretty sure this means that your chat history between you and NCSoft are being stored. This will occur if you have them on your contact/friends list on MSN.
I don't think they are storing all your MSN messages that you send to the rest of your friends. Hope this helps. |

That message normally pops up if you talk to someone via MSN who is playing Lineage 2, as Lineage 2 has an integrated MSN messenger.

Yes, but very likely the person he was talking to was playing L2. Because the messenger is integrated in L2, all chat is logged (as is all "normal" chat in all games), and the person outside of L2 gets a message that this specific conversation is logged on the L2 side.
