Fail-proof way to dis-connect?
Last night I spent roughly six hours flat brawling for legendary survivor with excelent ping the whole time.
Then god smite me down and I DC'd exactly when I needed to spam 'Stand up'. When I reconnected my connection was fine. This is just what my routers like. I run Gwx2, and I was wondering something. If I used a second instance of Guildwars to log into the same acount could i,just as the game stops reacting to me doing things (like pressing skills), log into that to force my character out of the instance and prevent a lag death? Does this work? anyone know a better way? Thanks! |

well what you are describing should work as long as you click on a DIFFERENT toon..
here is why I think so.. I have multiple accounts and sometimes get them confused. I have a tower and a laptop running at the same time - no need for the 2 instances for me. Ok say I am playing A S L A N on the tower and I sign into that account with my laptop I will automatically get Disconnected from the FRIENDS SERVER right off the bat. I can continue to play ASLAN as normal. But...once I hit say Im Not Your Mother.. POOFFFFF ASLAN gets DC'd with no chance of ever logging back in to him where he was. So yes this should work. If you do not want to use the 2 guild wars things and or do not have 2 computers running at the same time, press the short cut, logout and click on any toon BUT the one your on. Poof your dc's try this with a different toon first. Log in to your non LS toon. Type /deaths and write that down. Then go boxing and get knocked out. Press the short cut for the log out. Log in to a different toon. then log back to the first toon and then type /death. If the number is the same then go ahead and kill your self like mad while boxing on your LS and do this. IF not...Kill the Snow Wurms in Boreal Station.. IF IN HARD MODE ONLY KILL THE FIRST 10 SNOW WURMS!!! Do not, DO not do not EVER and I mean EVER go down the hill to kill the 3 at the bottom as the Oaks will kill you before you can map out in HM...this I promise - sadly ....tragically ..... dead at lvl 2 LS |

Wow thanks for the awesome reply man!
After doing the test, yes this seems to work just fine. However, my main issue with it is that... If i'm lagging so badly my client wont react to any input, who's to say that the second account will be able to connect me in the first place? I want to do it this way.. supposedly it can be done in five hours. But I really dont want what happened last night to happen again and have it all wasted. :s |

Just a little update you guys. ^^
About five minutes ago my game lagged out really hard when I was 1v1 with fronis, about 2/3rds health left. My survivor has got 996,000 exp at the moment so losing it there would have been ANNOYING! Anyway, I freaked out, exited the game and kept trying to connect on the other window. Needless to say it didnt react and would connect me, threw up a few errors about my transaction already being in process but finaly let me on. My survivor still had zero deaths, thank GOD. I dont know if thats enough to convince you that the second applicaton thing works (i'm not sure myself) But there it is in practice for you EDIT: Just got legendary survivor. No more DC's. Good luck everyone else! Last edited by Bill Clinton; Aug 22, 2009 at 12:27 AM // 00:27.. |
