Caster shield?
What mods have to be on a shield for it to be classed as a caster shield?

Can be alot. You should have multiple sets as a caster imo.
Inscription should (most of the time) be +10vs fire/water/lightning/slashing/blunt/piercing... Other mod should be either +30hp or +45(enchanted) imo, at least that is that I use. On monks I tend to use stanced sometimes aswell, depending on my build. |

Depends on my build.
In general a caster is -2 +45 enchant, but a lot of monks use a mix of everything. |

Usually an array of shields.
+30/+45(ench) (depending on build) for each of them. +10AL vs xxxxxxx, different for each. Probably also want reduce Daze and Crippled shields. Last edited by subarucar; Sep 25, 2009 at 11:55 PM // 23:55.. |

"Caster shield" is just a term sellers throw out to make an item seem more appealing (look at Caster Spear, Caster Sword, Caster Axe..). Most mean -2 ench/+45 ench, but they vary for sure.

1.If you are a caster and you want to use it yourself, then it's any mods you dam well want - or some combo as described above. 2. If you are selling a shield, it's best not to put any mods on it at all. You won't increase the selling price enough to justify the cost of adding mods, and the buyer may not want the mods you pick. |

Why Daze? It's not meta and almost 99% percent of builds do not have it. It's better to have AL+10 mods on your shields it's little things like that which will go along way. No Health +30? What happens when you get hit by a deepwound.

Its helpful in the less organised areas, RA/JQ/FA/HB, you find people who run it. It can get pretty annoying if you get one of the wammo's that trains the monk even if he has full prots up. Despite dazes rareness its still useful to have a shield for it, you can't go wrong considering it will only cost a couple of platinum anyway.

While sellers may call almost anything a caster shield, for me it's either:
1. A shield with the +1 to a caster attribute (%chance) mod (does close to nothing but still it's the most contribution to 'casting' you can expect from a shield) 2. An ordinary shield that has very high requirements that practically prohibit it's other uses than a defensive set for a caster, who's gonna get it's +8 armor instead of listed base armor and full effect of both extra mods on it. |

Edit: He doesn't even run a +30 health on his shield for deep wound, it's people like this that find themselves dying all the time. |

the reason i run no +health and no +energy is because i run item spells (PwK mainly), i used to run +15e +30hp staff, switching from staff to item at low enough hp can kill you, not to mention kills your energy also (primary armor set: 530 base hp and 35 energy, secondary armor set: 500 hp and 32 energy).

so will my q9 non insc str celestial shield with +1 prot 20% be worth anything or just merch food? (not dual modded thats only one)...i always assumed thats what a caster shield was and the +10 vrs ?? was damage reducers.
