Tactics vs Strength
Hi everyone,
I just installed GW not too long ago after a 10 month hiatus... anyways I was just wondering why Tactics shields are worth more than Strength shields now. I figured that it could be because Tactics can be used by other professions and Strength cannot, therefore the the low req. ones would actually be more useful to them. That's not the only reason is it? Or has ANet done some nerfing/buffing? Thanks. - sorry if this is in the wrong section. |

No, it's that simple. Dual stance Mo/W currently meta.

That's bsically it. Tactics updates have been given a bit of an overhaul in the past 10 months that make them worthwhile for casters to dump 7-9 points into that attribute for extra armor and a defensive stance or two.

low req. tactics shields are worth money cause pvp monks want the full armor from the shield while speccing as little att. into tactics as possible.

It just depends. If your warrior, you want to pump up Strength. Tactics is generally useless for a warrior since its a defensive attribute. Strength is offense. Casters (eles, monks, etc.) can use Tactic shields in combat. This way they gain approximately 8 armor (16 armor shield) (that don't have the req). Many Mo/W uses these shields for pvp and sometimes pve.
In my opinion, both can sell good. I've gotten a STR Tormented Shield and sold it for no problems. |

As said though tactics shields (lower requirement ones at least) are popular because casters are using them for added armor and defensive stances, etc. |

Thank you for all the replies.
Yea, that's what I figured... just wanted clarification. Thanks. So that means r7 15 AL strength shields are probably not worth that much. I don't really see why a warrior would want to use a r7 STR 15 AL shield instead of a r8+ STR 16 AL unless they're running some specific build. Thanks again. |

Ye, as said above, it is because of the caster monks. Tough, it's NOT because tactics got buffed, because it got nerfed. (Tactics is a near useless line right now, aside from 2-3 still OP "stay alive" skills)
It's because GoLE + Aegis got nerfed, that tactics became so popular. |
