Is it too late to make a farming Rit?
Hi everyone.
Yesterday I was duo farming the UW with a friend (she's a Ritualist primary, I'm Monk primary). She went as spirit spammer and I was support with additional damage/utility/heals, it was pretty amazingly fun and we cleared nearly the entire thing. Of course I was pretty amazed at her Rit and started thinking of making one, for farming purposes (I have been using Mo/Rt spirit spam but it is obviously just a gimmick for easier areas, Nicholas item farms, etc, for UW I'd need an actual Rit). With the upcoming skill update, do you think I should create a new Rt or wait to see if the spirit spam build will be nerfed? If I'm not wrong the skill update should be this thursday, no? Opinions welcome, thanks in advance. Last edited by Windf0rce; Dec 07, 2009 at 12:00 PM // 12:00.. |

you can always wait until thursday, it's not THAT far away xD
(also, if u can farm with your monk, why make a rit? xP) but if spirit spam is nerfed, u can always make him EoE and do FoWsc, so do it ;p |

I think the Monk's spirits would be too squishy for UW solo, so Rt would be optimal for UW, that's why I'm wanting one. I can't think of a stronger class for solo UW (not duo, not perma).
Now being optimistic, I don't see how they can nerf spirit spam unless they revert the casting time of every spirit to what it was before they buffed them. Even if SoS is nerfed, the build would still be effective I believe. |

Wouldn't count on it. There have been plenty of times in the past where updates failed to arrive on predicted dates due to one thing or another.
@Wind: Go ahead and make a Rit. Regardless of whether they are or will be good for farming, they're a fun enough class to play, and powerful enough in a team setting. Besides, if you can't do spirit spamming after the update, you can still try out one of the VwK-style builds. |

I dont think you have anything to worry about. Anet's goal for this update isnt about Rits, moreover than it is about farming areas and SF.
Spirit Spam isnt necissarily godmode, one good nuke can wipe out 6 spirits (even with armor of unfeeling, this has happend to me many times) and the Rit her/him self isnt Indestructable either, we are still squishy. So basically, you shouldnt have anything to worry about; Rits got their true purpose in GW with the spirit buff, it wont go the opposite way. |

I really doubt we will see skill updates this week.
They just got the test crew involved a week or less ago - I would seriously doubt they will have time to get full feedback and tweak things by this thursday. I also think the additions of skeletons to UW for halloween was an indication they were just taking care of uw speed runs for the moment and probably would not do much with the skills themselves until after wintersday. So I would very much doubt we see any real skill changes till at least January. |

make a rit for farming/fun... nobody really knows what nerfs are coming.
There are so many fun builds to run for farms (VwK, SoS, WL, RL) that even if one or 2 get hit the rest still work. |

If Anet nerfs Spirit Spammers so soon their very lame and even if we did get a nerf, i highly doubt it would be anything big.Go ahead make a rit,you will probably make up the money you put in here in your first solo run in there, here's a tip you can kill the smites just spread your spirits and dont hex them, first time I got to them they wiped my spirits and I thought holy $#!7 I cant kill those. |

Rits using spirit spam/channeling were good before the buff to Spirits and SoS. Even if all those buffs were reverted (which I really doubt will happen) its still worth having a rit. They are a versatile class, with quite a few options for farming, as well as general destruction.

Considering the fact that Rits were just buffed only a few months ago, I doubt they're going to be nerfed. Spirits are powerful to farm with (and for going through PvE in general), but even with Armor of Unfeeling they're very fragile and AoE can easily destroy them. And a bar dedicated to spirit spam isn't going to have any self-heals on it, more likely than not, which means you're doomed pretty fast if your spirits go down and aren't yet recharged, or if enemies ignore them and go for you (which does happen).
Rits are just awesome in every way, though. So I'd say go for it and make one. |

monks probably and maybe 55 (altough i don't see alot of people doing it anymore) is farming becoming dead when SF will meet his end. Or is this just a tought? |

An alternative to a rit for spirit spamming is a ranger. Expertise gives you the necessary boost.

make a rit, best class i've played in guild wars. if SoS gets nerfed (probably unlikely since there are plenty of other farming builds such as obsidian tanks and it can't really solo effectively) you can always just make some sort of channelnig ritualist, used the less effective spirits or heal as a resto rit.

Pretty much what Benderama said. Spirits might get a hit in the upcoming skill update since they are pretty OP'd atm. Make a rit if you want and have fun with it.
