How to disable combat music?
I like the music of GW but music switching every min between soothing music and rampaging one, is just too much for me. It breaks the atmosphere. Is there any way to disable this music other than buying music online and then getting option to disable it? (if I got that right)
If I can't listen to music normally, I'll just use pirated gw music and play on winamp. And won't feel a bit guilty. The only problem is that my comp will be stressed on resources (old comp eh..). |

You can't prevent the music from changing to combat music.

Guys (the ones whose posts are deleted),
He's not asking how to disable all of the music, only the combat music. There is currently no way to do so. |

There is no easy way to do this.
You could do a few things to get the result you want though. One would be to do what you already said, there might be a way for you to ??xtract" the music from the game into a playable format and then use your normal music player to play the music, doing this means you are not downloading it from anywhere and putting yourselfs at risk. I believe extracting it yourself and keepin it on private as in on your harddisk or a personal cd is allowed legally as long as you own the original and dont share it to others. The other way you can do it is with collectors edition, at least with nightfall I can,im sure the other versions also have it.with nightfall CE I got one cd that includes the music from nightfall if you can get that then you could mute GW music and play the cd with your music player and get the same result, now nightfall music may not be what you want to listen to all the time, but im sure the oher CE have the same thing and also this is the easiest way I can think of. Im also thinking of Direct Song,im not sure if it downloads the music for you in normal playable format, but you could look into that, and if it does you could do the same thing as I just said above. Hope you get a solution!. |

There is no way, other then to play individual files in an external player.
Music can be obtained from the .DAT with an extraction tool, I can tell you this (for educational purposes... :P) -- Make sure you have at least 5-6 gigs of space and a good few hour on your hand, oh and also none of the files have their right names, just XXXXXX where the X's are random numbers, they mp3s also have no actual tags... nothing. I'm not sure if this is because of the way the tool extracts them, they might have lost info. They are all .mp3's, most of the ones from 2005 are 96kbps (surprisingly, with how good they sound in the actual game), others are 128kbps. (again I'm not sure of the extraction tool actually has anything to do with making them lower in bitrate then they should)... Voice overs AND Music are all mp3, contained in the "sounds" grouping of the dat. The program you look for to extract the music I forget what it is called but it's command line, run in Windows CMD Prompt and it's quite easy once you figure out how to do it. Theres a post here on guru with information on it, if you actually wanna do that. I don't feel the above method is piracy at all by the way. If you are like me who payed FULL price when each part of the game was new (newish still for Prophecies at my time)...there is no possible way anyone is going to tell me I don't own a share of that music for paying $50 bucks for Prophecies when I started (early 06) then one month later Factions for another $50.. $50 later for Nightfall in late 06 and $40 for EoTN in late 07, not to mention countless addons.... You rightfully own whatever is in that dat file. Last edited by Bob Slydell; Jan 14, 2010 at 12:11 AM // 00:11.. |

If you can get the mp3s, either by dat extraction or from Direct Song, you should be able to edit the Direct Song configuration file to point to the standard music when it tries to trigger combat music. This thread should have the details you need on editing the configuration file.
