Miniature Pig, why so low priced?
1) It is the oldest canthan new year mini pet (2007) that came from lunar fortunes.
2) It has the same drop rate as the others (according to wiki:http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Miniature_Pig) 3) Its initial numbers were reduced due to the celestial pig exchange in 2008. Adding all this up, there are presumaby less mini pigs than celestial rats or oxes in game. Yet they are priced around 15-30k while rats are well over 100k and oxes over 60-70k... It is kinda odd if you think about it Is it its looks? |

Because everyone who attended a successful feast got one, unlike the celestials later on. I know I got like 3-4 and I wasn't trying at the time. I later had to spend some time giving them away in low level districts to new players because storage was still quite limited at the time (much to my detriment the next CNY when I didn't get my mini Celestial Pig and I lost out on my opportunity for a 250e minipet >_> ).
I think a majority of players that are playing now either got them at the feast, or when they were so incredibly low priced it was easier to just give them away. It's only now that the price is going up because new players are coming in that weren't able to get it originally, and because the limited supply is finally starting to catch up to demand. |

People got it for just being there. This afkers in the right district ended up with around 10.
Plus your pricings are heavily inflated, last year I got an unded rat for 10k. They aren't really worth much more it's people manipulating the economy using the theories of supply and demand to justify swaggling you. Last edited by Xsiriss; Feb 17, 2010 at 09:50 PM // 21:50.. |

Like Operative 14, I also started out with a bunch of mini pigs (9) and gave them away. I kept one for myself. That one I traded during CNY 2008 as an even trade for a Celestial Rat. The other party wanted to get the Celestial Pig and was short. Since then I replaced it for 10k.
We have no idea how many mini pigs are still in the game. Many of the players who got one (or more) no longer play and might have stopped playing before the CNY 2008, so never traded their pig for the Pig.

My guild ended up with about 40 extra pigs between us that year. No one wanted more than one, and we had a hard time finding people to take them for free. Of course, we finally get rid of all but a few by the time the next festival came around, and found out you could trade the extras for the celestial pig.

They were just extremelly common back then (as already explained they not only dropped from fortunes but also everyone in a district with 5 completed meals got one into inventory, often 9Rings Afkers ended with 6+ of them), and the next event that let people trade 5 for 1 celestial DIDN'T remove any significant amounts of them from the game (see how rare are the celestial pigs), only cleared some of ones readily available for sale back then.

I think the reason for the low trade in rate was because by that point, the pigs had been distributed thin enough that relatively few people had a set of 5 still. If I'm not mistaken, the price of pigs spiked that weekend, because no one wanted to give up their chance to trade for the celestial.
