Default Zealous & Exhaustion question

Do you recover from exhaustion faster with a zealous weapon?

The reason I ask is that a build I read about (shock axe) says to use Zealous Axe. In practice, I've noticed that the zealous effect seems to be useless since 90% of the time I'm exhausted from using Shock. I asked around and somebody said the zealous effect helps to slowly recover exhaustion by means of something like 5 swings = 1 energy uncovered from exhaustion. It's hard for me to test because it's such a slow rate so I was just wondering if anybody knows for sure.

Nope, 1 point of energy is gained back every 3 seconds. People use zealous axes because they are actively using shock+frenzy+bulls strike.

Yea, the simple thing to do is just avoid Shock as often. Rely on Bull's more often.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. I'll try to rely on Bull's Strike, but it always seems to fail me somehow.

I've tried using it in a reactive manner, that is, when they start running. But that usually ends up in me chasing them until they stop, at which point Bull's Strike activates and he doesn't get knocked down because he's not moving anymore.

I've tried using it in an anticipatory manner, that is, when I think they're about to start running I press it. But that usually ends up with either Bull's Strike landing too early or with the target just standing still and deciding not to run at all.

Should I be using Bull's Strike only after using Rush?

I realize the question of this thread has been answered and this isn't the help-me-play section so I understand if this thread gets closed, but I appreciate any replies nevertheless.

If you're chasing someone, you should definitely be using rush. You can use Bull's Strike when an opponent starts running, followed by rush and it won't cancel your Bull's action since it is a stance.

As noted, it isn't a matter of the Zealous mod making the exhaustion going away faster, it is a matter of using energy skills frequently (Bull's + Frenzy). Shock should not be spammed, but used when needed. I think the problem is that you need to learn how to use the build still, and are starting to see what you are not doing right yet. It takes practice to learn how to hit Bull's correctly, and the smart players knowing you are using it will be sure to stop when you get near to prevent the knockdown. I'd suggest finding someone familiar with the build to practice with you in a scrimmage. When you make mistakes they can explain why you messed up and teach you how to correct it.

Also, you can try to use observer mode, watching carefully how the axe warriors use their builds, for example you can check when they choose to use bull's, and if they have rush activated or not.
