Adept staff head question
Hullo there, just noticed this on a staff i have. If you look at the adept mods on the two staves, the one on the zodiac says HCT 20% of items attribute, while the other one clearly denotes that it is for energy storage. My question then is, why? What exactly is the difference between these 2 mods?
Thanks for any light you can shed on this |

hmmm, interesting. first difference that jumps out at me is that one is 20% and one 19%. doubt that would have much of a factor. was one found with the mod on it and one had the mod put on it. perhaps the 19% one was found with the mod and therefore it already has the item's attribute listed in the mod on the weapon? and then the 20% one was added by a player, resulting in it saying "of item's attribute" because that is what the mod says before applying it? pure speculation ;-)

The top staff is a pre-nerf staff, back when 20% HSR was not a guaranteed inherent (also notice the first mod listed is the energy mod). With pre-nerf staves, adding an Adept Staff head of Staff Wrapping of Mastery with result in the "on spell's of item's attribute." The adept and mastery mods work the exact same as it the staff was a post-nerf staff. If you have any other questions, I'll try to help as much as I can.

I think its a bug... possibly brought on by the fact that the r8 zodiac doesnt have the inherant HSR 20% of spells

I don't think it's a bug, some old items were like that.

Not a bug, just a pre-nerf staff. The reason for the wierd text of "on spells of item's attribute" is because adept and mastery mods did not exist before Nightfall and therefore did not exist before the update changing the inherents that staves dropped with (it used to be 2 random inherents + damage + energy, now its 1 random inherent + 20%HSR + damage +energy).

Staves that dropped before the 25 Oct 2006 update DO NOT have ANY item's attribute - the game doesn't consider their requirement attribute to be the item's attribute.
There's one important thing most people don't know about: When a modifiers description says "of item's attribute" it practically means the mod doesn't work at all! Yes, it's a blank mod, working exactly as if you have put it on a no-req staff. And it's easy to test. I always <rofl> when I see people put Adept head or Wrapping of Mastery on the pre 25'Oct'06 staves they try to sell in High-End |

what yawg said. but like all items that are particularly of no use, people love to pay out the ass for them. see what you can get for it, since it really is useless. you can make a nice buck off of some silly rich guy for that zodiac staff.
