Vanquishing Sacnoth Valley
In a bit I'ma be vanquishing Sacnoth Valley. Any tips?
I'm going mostly with heroes, and probably will H/H (Or maybe go with a friend), and I hear it's one of the hardest vanquishes in the game. From past experience I've always had problems with the forest and that damned djinn. I'm a warrior by the way. |

Just bring a generic hero setup(sabway/ritway since you're a war),shouldn't be hard if you use care.
Just run a Dslash/SY build..maybe throw in Pain Inverter for the boss. |

Panic...as in the skill....should destroy the forest part, which is really the only difficult part in that area

So you're suggesting I should assemble a team with a mesmer? Interesting.. Mind helping me come up with a team build?

Use a conset and bring DP removal of if it gets too tough. The Charr homelands were the hardest vanqs when I went for Legendary.
You could also bring a Siege Devourer. |

The grawls (specially the rit boss) should not be underestimated as well - you need good dmg to take them down. When I recently vanquished it, I only heard about the difficulties in the forest before starting it so i went as imba+sos+er+interrupt mesmer+henchies(healing monk, interrupt ranger, earth ele, mesmer) which was a total fail: everything was easy but the grawls were unkillable, lost like a hour on those before (by pure luck) managed to kill them. Since you are a war, it shouldn't be a big deal since you can do a lot of dmg by yourself, but I thought i should say this anyway.

Only problem I had with my discord team was blisterbark, either one of his party can do serious damage to your clumped party and blisterbark himself can wipe it within seconds if you are not carefull. After that the area is great fun.

There are two BIG problems when vanquishing Sacnoth valley. I've done it twice and it's a pain...
1) the burning forest. Flowstone elementals are the least of your trouble, just make sure you lure them away from other groups. Real problem are the 3 burning spirit patrols, since they have long patrol routes and it can be easy to forget they're still patrolling somwehere off the compass. Borguus is the same, except the group is bigger and his damage is even more extreme. A really good idea would be to bring a defensive spirit spammer, shelter really makes a big difference. 2) the big grawl healing group. 3+ HM healers is hard to beat. Lure really really really carefully, and try to get the healers to split up - if you can. Otherwise, all you can hope for is spiking the healers one by one. |

play careful, pull groups apart. bring plenty of dp removal. consets wouldn't hurt. play with another real person+3heroes.

I would reccomend the Aura Of The Lich rit MM build and Probably a Panic or some type mass inturupter mesmer. Then probably use some you think fit for a healer. I honestly like necro healers cause they always have energy...
I play warrior most the time also and think that bringing Save Yourselves is probably a must. |

I was thinking in particular of running a team setup like this:
Me: WE axe w/ pen chop Synergizes with team members for immense axe damage and spiking. I can't figure out to take PI or Finish Him when deciding PvE skills though. Hero 1 Necro: MM bomber Typical bombing hero. Typical, yet effective. Hero 2 Necro: Strength of Honor and Judge's Insight, with ye' ol curses. This is the guy to be using SoH and Judge's Insight on me to fuel my 200 dmg with Penetrating chop, as well as deteriorate the enemies with Enfeebling Blood's weakness. I don't know what elite to use and I've been trying to decide between necromancer or monk primaries for this role, but I concluded necromancer because of energy. I don't know what elite to use though. Hero 3 Necro: Typical N/Rt healer. Yup. I'm a little worried I won't be able to survive the area without SY though. But at the same time, if I do run a SY based build to affect my whole party, I may miss out on the huge axe damage. Here's my build, to be more specific: Flail Keen Chop Penetrating Chop Penetrating Blow "Finish Him!"/Pain Inverter (I can't decide. Halp?) Warrior's Endurance "I am the strongest!" Asuran Scan Also, for those going "lolflailfail", it's PvE H/H, so I found since you're not in a rush it's a decent skill. But I am on the edge of removing it from the build for anything I can find better. I can't fit Winter in my team anywhere either, so I'm in a bit of a bind here still for Borrgus/the flame bitch. Hmmmmm... Last edited by Lishy; Jun 02, 2010 at 10:54 PM // 22:54.. |

Looks good to me. I wonder if perhaps you could make your minion bomber hero a N/R and squeeze Winter in there. Even at 0 Wilderness Survival, it does the job if you can get the timing and placement down. Just make sure to activate it just out of harm's way right before you launch a strike on Borrguus. But if it messes up the MM build, then don't bother: I've managed a couple times when I forgot it, just with an extra party wipe or two.
I think PI would work better specifically against Borrguus but FH better against everyone else, but either would be good. |
