A Newbie's simple question T_T
Hi,
I am a Newbie and would like to play Guild Wars Online, but this is not the only MMORPG game that i have played. I just want to ask if this game have hacking policies? I know that it's the player's responsibility to secure his account. But i am just curious because hacking is one of the concerns of every MMORPG players. |

A-net will generally try to help getting your account back, but you need to prove your the owner of the game, CD-key, personal details ect. to prove you're not just some random guy asking for access to an account ^^. I know a few people that have been hacked and they all got their accounts back, albeit with a lot less money and items on it.

You can contact them through Support.
as for policies - It's the usual EULA stuff. If you can prove you are the original owner of the account they'll return it to you. They won't however replace any lost goods/characters. |

Hacking isn't really a problem imo
Adhere to basic common sense in setting up and using your computer online. Don't go online with an admin account instead set up a user account that has limited access to system files and cannot make changes to same without entering a password. Have antivirus and firewall on all the time. Do not use anyone else's computer friend sibling work computer etc. Get a good password that's long and contains letters numbers symbols etc and isn't just your name and age Do not share this with anyone ever family friends lover even your maternal grandmother who always remembers your birthday. Consider changing your password occasionally just to be sure. Pick a sensible character name not one that's designed to avoid the game filters on offensive words. Lastly just play the game and you are very unlikely to have problems. |

If you keep your cd keys you can basically show the account belongs to you if you get hacked at any time. Just don't lose them like I did and now resort to some impossible password to figure out involving numbers, caps, lowercase, symbols

Been playing for 4 years and a half. I followed the advice that people have given in this thread and never had a single problem.

Lol Dame, awww
Just don't try to buy gold online (require user & password for purchase, lol, greedy idiots fall for it). Be careful and don't have a password like uhm *password* and you should be ok, I also use a virtual keyboard when I login, maybe I'm a little too paranoid At the end of the day, as long as you have your game key, you'll get your a/c back (if worst case scenario you do get hacked and a/c stolen). |

I've been playing MMORPGs for quite awhile now and I've never been hacked. I'd be more concerned about the game mechanics then hacking. I think if you're careful, it's the least of your worries.
Just give your account a decent password with letters and numbers, don't do stupid things like buy gold or let a friend use your account, and be careful about downloading suspicious programs. Very simple. Now go have fun. GW is the best MMORPG I've played. P.S. What Dame said, too. Hacking me is like hacking the stink out of sh*t.
