Whisper - sound notification
Anybody could clarify something to me please:
1) under what volume option is it? 2) can it be audible while gw is in background? 3) I am failing to hear it even if I can hear every other gw sound, does it mean a corrupted dat file? Thanks in advance. |

Whispers don't always make the ping sound. I don't know exactly when they do though.

They only make the noise when you recieve a PM from a new person. Such as if you tell someone to PM you in about 5 mins, then log off and back on, when they PM you, you should hear the noise. I highly doubt it's anything to do with a corrupted dat file.

You can find all sound options in the UI. Menu>Options>Sound Tab. Or, alternatively, press F11 and click the Sound tab.
Yes. Under the Sound tab, un-click "Mute when Guild Wars is in background". Quote:
If you receive a message from somebody, and then again from that same person about 3~5 minutes later (without any messages within that time period), you will hear the ping. The same applies for when somebody "new" (who hasn't messaged you in said time period, or at all in your current "session" of being online) whispers you. Thanks, everybody, found what the problem was: I was whispering myself from 1 account to another and I thought that if i relogged on the "whispering" one, it would reset the "new person" counter. Ofc it didn't and thus i couldn't hear anything. As long as gw isn't minimized i can hear the notification sound just well.

I have noticed, once you receive the whisper ping, you generally won't receive it from the same person unless one of you have changed zones, or have logged off and back on.

I can't get my whisper ping to work at all. I can hear all other sounds, but not that one. I have had multiple people whisper me, but no ping.
Any suggestions? |
