Alright so this might be one of those posts that you are tired of answering but i kinda wanted to make it my own since i think it will help me a bit more. Here i go! :
I just got back from a 2 year of not playing guild wars. I have been looking around the websites, some of my guildies and stuff but i still can't decide with which one to stay. I love using my mesmer and monk, though i enjoy playing my mesmer a bit more. Now the problem is that so far the people who i've asked about mesmers, they all say its hard to get in groups, not very good at farming and the only place they are good at is pvp basically. Other than that, its a hard character to max title with. Now the monk is another story. Always needed in parties and can do almost about anything, from 55 to 600smite. Now i am planning on trying to get the 30 titles on one of them. 4 questions: 1. Whats your opinion about this? 2. What would you do in this case? 3. Why? 4. Any tips? Thank you so much for reading this and sorry for making it so long . I just wanted to let you guys know what I'm interested in and what's stopping me :P. |

First tip: if you're planning on going for GWAMM and don't have any titles yet and are not attached to the char or have spent a lot of gold on armor etc: reroll and go for survivor. If you don't do survivor, you'll probably have to do 2 out of the 3 loong ones: drunkard, kurzick, luxon. I didn't have survivor and had to do drunkard and kurzick to get my gwamm. Seriously, if you don't have survivor yet and don't mind rerolling the character, do it. You'll thank me later.

we had a guildie who her main was her mesmer. She loved it. and we loved having her in our parties. if you love playing your mesmer go with that. She in fact, got me to want to make one. She got real good at farming raptors with her mesmer and other stuff. Go with what you like. I would always accept a mesmer in my groups.

You don't have to. It probably just makes life easier. I wouldn't know, I don't have GWAMM on any characters.

One big tip is to go to the wiki and look at the changes that have been made over the last couple years. You said you could do 600, but that was hit a couple months ago. It's still possible, but not as easy as it used to be. And with the recent changes to mesmers, some of your favorite skill may not work the way you think they do.

If you are comfortable doing thing with Heroes and Henchies and your Heroes are properly* set up, you can do anything with any class. I don't know why people would say a Mesmer is only good for PvP - I've had no problems doing PvE with my Mesmer (or any class). However, if your Heroes aren't set up, and you tend to do things with PUGs, a Monk is much easier to get into groups with because people are always looking for heal/prot monks and will usually accept an RoJ monk as well. (*by properly set up, I mean fully Runed/Insignia'd with at least a Minor Vigor, and a good build and weapon set.)) |

Monks aren't always needed in parties, as advanced players can replace them with restoration ritualists or Ether Renewal elementalists. Mesmers are able to fit into to groups very well and it's much easier to get into them after the last skill update.

Thats one of my other questions, what should i put in my characters? In term of runes and insignias whats best to equip to my heroes and my character? Because i heard that +3 -75hp is not good anymore or maybe it never was. Thats what i have in each of my characters. BTW thank you guys for everything, really helping me out. |

Superior runes are fine on most casters and builds. If guildies are telling you all this silly stuff, I suggest finding a better guild.

guild groups or h/h.
pugging gwamm isn't the greatest way to go about it; the monk's attractiveness in pugs is quite irrelevant. go with whichever one you find more fun. |

I will PM you my in-game name and you can reply to the PM with yours.
Pugging or PUG is where you're with human players in your group outside of your guild, friends list, or alliance. Communication is key and very important, but PUGs are fine. |

PUG - Pick Up Group.
And it's not a bad way to go for titles, especially if you incorporate the Zaishen Missions & Bounties into your title hunting (Somenthing I highly recommend, since many of them give rewards that will cut down on the grind.) As far as Mesmers go, they're fine for PvE, especially after the recent buff they were given. I got GWAMM on my Mesmer and had a lot of fun doing it, because I love playing her. You're going to be spending a lot of time working on titles for your character, so do yourself a favor and play a profession that you enjoy playing. |

You'll get all kinds of different opinions about setting up your heroes, so I might as well give you mine. Btw - my credentials - 5+ years and my Ranger has 26 or 27 titles, mostly done with Heroes and Henchies - I have 12 characters, one of each class, plus and lvl2 Ranger mule and an extra Monk. Each character(except the mule) has at least 4 fully setup Heroes, most have 5 or 6. (mainly a Monk, SoS, MM, interrupt Ranger, & Air/fire ele) So, as a general rule I set up my Heroes as: - Survivor Insignias on head, hands and feet - for +15 health - Radiants on chest and legs - for +5 energy - Major Rune of main build-appropriate attribute on head - for example, Major Death Magic on a MM, Major Channeling on an SoS Rit, etc. - Minor Rune of secondary build attribute - for example, Minor Soul Reaping on an MM, Minor Spawning on an SoS - Major Vigor - don't be cheap - The last two Rune slots are Vitae, Attunement, or a Minor of another attribute, as appropriate - for example, Minor Communing on an SoS. There are exceptions of course, for example the MM have a Bloodstained Insignia instead of one of the Radiants. And none of this is "fixed", I'm always trying out new things (but I don't use any sort of "way". P.s - I realize that setting up heroes this way is not cheap, but it will pay off in the end. (In some cases you may want to use a Major Rune instead of a Minor until you can afford the minor.) P.p.s. - My Ranger doesn't have GWAMM because, quite frankly, having GWAMM means nothing to me and to get it I would have to do boring crap like drunkard, party animal, Luxon/Kurzick, etc. I'd rather do something interesting with some other character.
