Obsidian vs. Primeval
I am saving money for a set of elite armor, and I am wondering which is considered the best; obsidian or primeval armor? What is the (aprox) material cost in each case?
Apreciate any help/tips |

They both have the same armor rating, it mostly depends on personal preference on which one you like more. Obsidian is going to be more expensive, and material is based on which profession you want it for.

Try not to care about what other people think. You'll end up like anyone else with the 'best' armor and at the same time suck at the game lie there's no tomorrow.

Why care what others think its you that has to wear the armor not them get what you want if your that bothered about it get both. If not then obby will be the one others might care about even though its so common now sadly.
(P.S if you take the time to save up to get obby then it wouldn't take to long to get primevil so if your going for obby then you would be aswell to get both most mat requirements for primevil are common enough anyway so its really just the 75k part for primevil where for obby its the 100+ ectos and obby shards that would take the longest to accumulate for obby armor.) Anyways whatever YOU decide good luck with it and have fun doing it :P Edit as said above and i was |

I like both of them when it comes to design, and if the obsidian had not been that costy I would have gone for that one because creds isn't exactly negative=3
But I totally agree, I play for fun, I don't really care what other players think=) |

well it also very much depends on what professsion+ gender.
for example, Female ele obsidian is vastly superior to primevil for female ele b/c primevil is looks like you fell through an umbrella. But buety(know i spelled that wrong go go 6am) is in the eyes of the beholder. So go w/ what you think would look nice. It's all about choices <3 |

its all personal preference and nothing more. There are plenty of max armors out there, take a look thru the armor pages on wiki and see which YOU like and then go for that, what other people think is irrelevant.

Like they said, get what you like best.
Obby armor dyed black was cool the first million times someone showed up in it. Spend those ectos on fun stuff, title items, that rare mini you have wanted, etc etc. The skins on weapons and armors are great when you are applying your own personal tastes and looks. I dye my armor anything I want. I experiment. I don't have one set of black armor, only because I wanted to look different. Enjoyment of the game should be your goal. That feeling of "I have the most expensive armor dyed all black and I look freaking awesome" only applies if...well, you think you look freaking awesome. |

Really, there's so many armors you have a great choice...and, unless you spend all your time in towns, you're the one who's going to see it most.
Personally I think obsidian is the most horrible armor in game, generally, and I'm happy with that so I'm not gonna spill my blood for it (I already do it for vabbi which is the next most expensive armor, even if not nearly near in cost). But the others think otherwise, so it's all a matter of taste. |

Can you at least tell us what class you're shopping the armor for?

Have to agree here.......there is no such thing as Best
Its all to do with your fashion taste as you are aware same stats So look at the armours and choose the one you wish as its you who is wearing it. never be forced into choosing one by others. Epeen guys like to think they are the one ..ignore such and go with what you like to be wearing as an armour |

Obsidian Armor:
Looks good on: -Elementalist -Dervish -Paragon -Ritualist -Necromancer (Female only, preferably died Pink or Purple) Looks terrible on: -Warrior (Ratio of Hand Mass:Body mass is incorrect) -Assassin (The class ruins the armor, not the armor ruining the class. See: Shadow Form abuse and the wealth amassed from that abuse leading to the cut-copy-paste of every Sin in Black-Dyed Obsidian armor) -Mesmer -Monk ----- /thread

I agree with your conclusion, though I'd put female eles in 'terrible' and male paras in 'terrible.' And I'd put both ranger versions in 'good' under the condition that female rangers wear whatever skirt that is often mixed with it instead of the actual Obsidian pants. |

On the other hand, If i was talking about Primeval armor; Ranger would be 2nd-best next to Dervishes. |

It's fine to argue whether you prefer to fit in or stand out, or whether there is some problem with popular culture that you reasonably believe should be different, but to treat fitting in as somehow morally cheaper than standing out is simply incorrect. Quote:
