Mission Glitches?
Hey guys, I have a question...
I recently returned from a 6 month break and saw something ... strange, to say the least. I've completed two of the Ring of Fire missions (all except for Hell's Precipice) on my Paragon. I'm positive that I did, and I'll show you proof in just a minute. Anyway, I log onto my Paragon and see that all of her Ring of Fire missions are incomplete. As you can see, not only do I have all 3 missions incomplete - but I also have the areas mapped. How could I get to Abaddon's Mouth and Hell's Precipice without completing the prior missions? How could the areas be mapped if they weren't finished? (I suppose someone could just run through the mission and not finish it to map it, but point #1 still stands) o.O?? Did some kind of weird update happen while I was away? This hasn't happened on any of my other characters, at least not that I've noticed yet. Edit: Oh! Just as a note I thought of, I haven't completed them in HM either. Last edited by Spookii; Jul 24, 2010 at 02:58 AM // 02:58.. Reason: Adding info |

Odd. Are you absolutely sure you did not complete them in Hard Mode?

I doubt s/he d/c'ed before every mission on the RoF islands; I am also pretty sure s/he would have noticed s/he wasn't getting credit for his/her work when s/he initially did the missions.

On the bright side, you might just be able to get another Deldrimor Talisman.

If my understanding of the bug is correct, you could have used the same method of exploiting Mallyx a long time ago to get to the RoF island missions, but I have a feeling that you would remember doing such a thing.

I think JonnieBoi05 got it. If the OP did them in Hard mode, they'd show up on the NM map like that.

The Hell's Precipice mission part of the map has not been mapped, consist with the OP's statement and doesn't appear to have been done at all. Additionally, can you do HM before finishing the campaign in NM?

That is very odd. You can't get to the Abaddon's Mouth outpost without doing Ring of Fire, so there should be no way to have the shield for Abaddon's Mouth showing without a mission-complete sword through the RoF shield. Likewise you can't get to Hell's Precipice without completing Abaddon's Mouth.
Do you usually do mission bonuses? Your status in the Tyrian Protector title should show whether you have credit for all missions. |

I know you say you are sure you haven't done them in Hard Mode, but just to be sure, switch to HM and look at the map.

I am 100% positive I haven't done them on HM. Like I said, it's been 6 months since I've played and I can't remember from back then . I assume that I did get credit for them, since I don't remember being angry about not getting credit after completing them. Plus I have all three outposts, and the only way to get that is to complete them...Also, the NM missions aren't showing up in my achievements as completed, I just counted them.
I'm about to email ANet about this, I suppose it's just a bug. Strange, though. o.O |

Yeah ok from the looks of it only thing that could have happend is you done the guild hall map travel glitch back when it was around since you say you never done it in hm or got credit towards the title in nm for completing them when you were there 6 months or so ago you probs entered the mission just to uncover some map and never actually done the mission's.
P.S to Check and make sure you never done them in HM switch on the HM button, which is in the party window. Then re check the map, that will make sure that you never done them since from what I read you are only assuming from memery you never done them in HM. Still, can you also post a screenshot of what the HM missions look like?

But in all honesty, it seems more like you just don't believe what I'm saying (which I have no reason to lie) and part of me doesn't want to indulge in your trollish behavior since there's no other reason to see a screenshot. :] As I stated before, I've reported the issue to ANet so there's really nothing else to be gained from this thread. So as far as I'm concerned, the thread is closed. Thanks to everyone for their feedback! Edit: Oh and in response to Wyndy, I have gone to the outposts yes. I completed Hell's Precipice recently to see if it would count the mission as complete - and it did. Last edited by Spookii; Jul 24, 2010 at 11:31 PM // 23:31.. |

This is my last post here, since what we're talking about is off topic from the question.
I've said twice now that I'm 100% positive I've not done them on HM, which would mean to any normal person that I'm not going off of memory. I logged in before, checked my map again and now I am without a doubt sure that HM is toggled on. The part where I mentioned that my memory was hazy was about whether or not I remember getting credit for doing the missions 6 months ago or not. P.S. Trying to win an argument with post count numb0rz is a little e-peenish. Edit: Corrected a typo pointed out by Quaker. Last edited by Spookii; Jul 25, 2010 at 05:02 PM // 17:02.. |
