Weird Staff Wrapping - Guild Wars Forums

Hey, recently got this staff from an EotN chest. It seems to have a +1 Fire Staff wrapping, I didn't think these kinda weird mods dropped outside of Proph and Factions. Anyone explain? Is this usual, or a bizzare drop?

Of Attribute wrapping. 1st time i heard about this upgrade.

The actual staff wrapping isn't weird at all, the "of (Attribute)" wrappings aren't that uncommon. The fact that it's attached to an earth staff is what gets to me. That's pretty unusual.

Not really. There have been multiple attribute weapons around since day one. Dual attribute weapons are not uncommon, while weapons linked to 3 attributes are a bit rare, but they're still out there.

I knew that, it just seemed odd that an EotN drop still can have the quirky mods that proph/factions items have.

Theres 2 kinds of +1 20% wrappings.

Mastery which is +1 20% of items req.
Of XX (Eg Fire Magic, Healing Prayers etc), which is set to that particular attribute and cant be changed.

It's a normal mod - not quirky.

that was one of the things that bugged me about FoW in the early days before nightfall when i did FoW runs. use to be real common to see a 3 attribute staff drop down there, or i always seem to get one out of a chest.

In Prophecies and Factions all the +1 attribute wrappings drop this way, in Nightfall and EotN about half of them will be replaced by the "of Mastery" wrapping instead. It's 50/50 chance there for either kind so they aren't any rare, no matter where you get the drop.
