Default How can I turn off auto getting range of a target

If you target somebody and you are out of range you character will start running towards the target until it is in range and then cast. I seem to remember (returning player) that you can turn that off but I can not find where. Can you still turn that off and if so where?

Here is the info on the wiki http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Targe..._call_a_target
Which is CTRL double click. This allows you to mark the target without attacking it.

Thanks for that (assist on a called out target is very nice) but what I want is that when I cast on a target and it is out of range I do not automaticly run up to the target but just get an out of range message or the cast will not go off. Peventing me from running thru a horde of enemies when I picked the wrong target

^ pressing C will target the closest enemy
so that way you wont run through a group to attack whatever you targeted

If you want to call out a target without making any movements hold CTRL+Shift and double click or press space

Shift + click to select but do nothing.
Ctrl + Shift + click to call but do nothing ("I'm targeting ...")

He isn't looking to call a target. By the looks of it he wants to cast a spell but it not make him run into battle. I don't think it is an option, but I do know that shouts like You Move Like a Dwarf gives the "out of range".

what he is asking is how he can target a foe without engaging it, and all you gotta do is press C for the closest target and then use [ or ] to scroll thru foes.

i dont think u can turn it off (maybe not mutli click?) but look in the options menu

As far as I know there is no option to turn of automatically running towards your target when you are out of (casting) range.

I misunderstood your question. Now that you have made it clearer to me, the answer is you can either hit "C" to change your target and abort your cast, or you can click on the ground to stop running and abort your cast. There is no way to just swap your target. Any change will abort the cast.

yeah, as mentioned above there are game options you can look at. I found one when I decided while doing something in particular that I did not want to automatically run to the target that I clicked on (I just wanted him targeted). You can disable that feature. When you do you can click on targets (they will become your target as normal), but you will not automatically run to them.

However, I believe that any time you go to shoot/cast/attack a target you will automatically run into range. I don't think there is a way to turn that part off.

I hope that helps.

Lol! It's amazing how so many people can misunderstand a simple question.

@OP - as JackSchit said, there are skills such as You Move Like a Dwarf that don't autorun to the target (which I find really annoying), but there appears to be no option to make all skills act that way. Your only option is to abort the skill by various methods (clicking on the ground, straffing, etc.), but of course, you may have already run into Schit by then.
