Locked out of GW and NCsoft
Preface:
I was suckered by the latest "GW2Beta" Phishing Scam. The link directed me right to the genuine NCsoft site. Informed NCsoft via the support link. Changed my NC and GW PassWords. Gave NC as much info as I felt comfy with in thier auto gen reply tix. Now, I no longer have the packaging for the 4 Acct Keys they request nor do I know for sure that the original date of birth I gave nearly 4 years ago was actual nor do I remember the CC that I may have used to purchase EoTN. Having not played in a long time I jumped into some pvp in Aspenwood. Did some mesmer shutdown for 2 hours and Whammo! A huge Grenth like creature pops up and smites me while waiting for the next match. I have been locked out of both my GW and NCsoft accts. I am awaiting a non-auto gen response to my now numerous support Tix. My question is, what are my best tools to use to regain access? How do I prove I am not some replicant bent on mayhem??? |

There is only ONE tool: talk to support. Of course, you have dug yourself quite quite deep already...
The "grenth like" creature is Dhuum, and he reaps banned accounts - probably whoever stole your account used it to bot, getting the account in trouble. |

Hi,
A few things that do not ring right here 1..they did not have your account when you were playing in Aspenwood hence you must have had a bot running at the time on your account. any type of bots are against the EULA hence you got banned 2. so now you have only one way to remedy this is as above post is to seek support from anet as this is a fansite and cannot help in anyway. 3. so it was not the phising scam that caught you as you had control of your account at the time of ban. 4.they have control of the ban so you will just have to wait on a response if any from them |

To the above two: you know that Dhuum pops up for stuff besides botting, right?

Well, yes, but I'm kinda assuming the most likely scenario here. Might as well have used the account for RMT, or the OP could be lying and preparing a case for appeal to St. Gaile, the patron saint of botters...

Depending on the timeline, Dhum may have been put in motion independently of the OP's support ticket, for something that was done on the account prior to him reclaiming it.

I think we're all assuming the OP's account was stolen. Was it?

No, the acct was not stolen. In fact I hadnt logged in in almost a year other than to check for 3rd year Bday gift. What triggered my Acct Block was in fact that I had reported to NCsoft that I had responded to a phishing scam and then changed both my NCsoft and my GW pw infos. They put a block(not a ban) on both accts in order to "investigate the validity of ownership."
Now, sans 4 original Access Keys, how the heck do I prove that I am the owner of the acct. I have been provided the tele# and will try on monday. It seems as though they want to help, but insist on the original acces keys. Besides fan boys with unlimited shelf space, who saves the packaging for 42 months? |

2. Yes, I am fully aware that this is a fan site. Thought maybe the GW community might have some helpful hints for a veteran player. 42 Months across 4 Campaigns. |

One thing that 'might' be helpful in proving your ownership of the account to NCsoft support when lacking the original access keys... is your screen shot folder... you very well might have a collection of screen shots of all the account's current characters over the years that you have been playing, that might be helpful in proving ownership if any of the screen shots can show you have been in possession of the account all this time. Worth a try if you have no other options. Edit: Hey, best of luck dealing with support, hope it all works out well for you. Oh, also if you have ever purchased anything for your account via the NCsoft online store in the past, that would show a link between the account and your credit/debit card, it might be helpful. did you at any point lost anything from your accounts?
did you at any point was unable to log into your accounts? did you at any point have your account stolen? if not then you must have ran a bot at some point. |

They lock out when ever there is "suspicious" activity on an acct. I was "suspicious" because I informed them that I had been duped my the GW2 Beta scam and immediately changed all my login PWs for both my NCsoft and GW accts. Now I need to prove that I had ownership rights to do that. Your statements of logic are flawed. I could just as easily say: Gold spammers use poor diction. Therefore since you use poor diction in your post, you must be a gold spammer. |

Both accts restored. Sending crash old crash reports and ingame images did the trick. They made sure to note that this was an "exception" and next time only the access keys would suffice. Not gonna let it happen again.
Thx fer the help folks! /close |
