Duncan HM
Hey guys,
So yeah, I'm a warrior running 100B with a geared HeroSpiritway team(N, Rt, Rt). I tried to beat Duncan many times, but I wasn't even able to get to him. Maybe the problem was that I did this all h/h. What I want to know, is there a way to finish Duncan HM H/H way for me. I did some research, and figured I need certain skills to beat Duncan, well if I get these skills on my necro, that completely messes up his MM build, and he is basically useless. I tried many things but it just doesn't work. I have vanquished campaigns and didn't have any problems with that, but Duncan H/H just doesn't work for me. If you guys could provide hero builds/combinations that would work or if you need to get Duncan HM done as well, or if you would be so kind as to help me, I would greatly appreciate help. (Contact me in game, ign is Black Horror Knight) |

Frozen Soil will help immensly in there, as would an interrupter for duncan. HM-wise, I've got to duncan before, but couldn't kill him. If you're willing to fork out a bit of money, there's plenty of runners in the Services Offered section.

the easiest way would be to take swap on your character
it takes a while to setup but once u swap all the spirits around him into the far back right corner/cave area you will have a much clearer shot at him you will need plenty of healing and proting along with interupts to really deal with him I have done this hero/henchie before but i must admit it takes forever just to setup and get the spirits away from him and if you do not move the spirits away from him running a spiritway hero team they will spend 75% of their time taking out those spirits rather than taking out duncan it might be worth it to bring another person if you possibly can it can be done hero henchie but it does take some skill and patience |

What LMW said. Swap is about as important for taking out Duncan as anything could ever be for that fight. I dont know whether they updated it but back in the day, when it could still be run because of the gate problem , we ran Duncan a lot of times and the most important person in the party for damage was the necro. I'm afraid you'll have to change your necro setup or take a necro that can damage him and then another MM. Swap on you and those necro skills were necessary back then.

Did this the other week in HM, H/H, and without cons.
My build: DSlash (forgot Swap...) Razah: SoS with some random AoE on the end (probably Curses). Xandra: ST + Frozen Soil. Livia: RoJ Smiter. Bascially what I did was get a decent sized ball (not hard due to all the walls to pull around) and produce a massive AoE nuke. 100B probably would have been better but I couldn't be bothered switching (too lazy to copy the template ). You just need to go slowly (especially for the Restless Spirits) and only aggro one group at a time. Also remember you can skip 2 of the big Summit mobs, so I recommend doing that. When I got to Duncan, I killed the spirits as quickly as I could, then pushed forward, did as much damage as I could to Duncan before enough spirits came up to threaten my team. Then pull out, kill the spirits again, and repeat. Takes a little while but it's definitely possible. It's not the best way to do it but it works.

Like the othesr have said frozen soil and swap. Beyond that take it slow. Spirits are a great way to deal with the restless spirits. Take an interupt....maybe distracting chop or something. Learning where the restless pop will also help immensely.
From the start you might want to clear some of the restless to the left, just to give a 'lil breathing room. Then I would suggest setting up a spirit wall. Lay FS behind the spirit wall and pull aggro one group at a time. After the 1st group of summit thre will be two sets of restless pops in the lil cave. Pop them being careful not to aggro the summit group to the left. After dispatching of them you might want to take out the summit group. Like b4 lay a spirit wall and FS behind b4 aggroing. Out side of the cave there will be more restless pops. Pop them while avoiding aggro of the 2 patrolling summit groups. Once the pops are cleared aggro the left summit group, the ones on the path not the bridge, Pull them back using the spirit wall fs tac to the archway. After they are finished you'll need to pop the restless on the path. Kill these while trying not to aggro the bridge patrol. Once you come to the end of the path the the chamber at the base of the stairs, just go slowly. There will be lots of restless pops. make your way up the stairs untill you reach the next summit group. Pull them down the stairs and kill them. Continue up going slowly killing the restless as they pop until you are at the top of the hill. Pull the patrolling summit group up to the top of the hill and kill them there. There will be restless pops to left and right sides so be careful as not to go to far in to get aggro. For a h/h war setup I might suggest going along the right wall to get to Duncan. There will be more pops along the way to the stage. There will be 1 last group of summit on the backside of the structure. Kill them and proceed onto the stage. There will be a few more restless pops on the stage so be careful. Once in range swap out the spirits. Duncan will not pull far unfortunately. For Duncan your main concern will be him casting spirit rift. Try to interupt it. Your h/h should be able to out heal his passive defense ability. In time he will die as long as you can avoid getting wiped by spirit rift. |

Here's some build's ive used while ago.
All the trash mobs were particulary easy and i only wiped couple times due to overpulls and bad positioning..anyway..you want to bring dp removal..after you have cleared all trash(all the restless spirits too so you dont get any surprises when killing dunc) and moved all spirits..see below how i have positioned myself next to duncey then move necro to range and prot him with emo while he spams spoil+signet...you just need to figure some build for yourself as warrior. Use a conset to help get to duncan, and make sure to put frozen soil up where the dwarves won't kill it. Spirits have longbow range so you can set them up outside of his aggro and have them attack while he does nothing.
