What PvE items are needed for PvP - Guild Wars Forums

I am starting to play pvp in a more serious way which mean I am looking at some of the current builds and I am seeing that alot of them require like 8 in tactics. (standard WoH monk build)

The only shields you can get on a pvp character are Q9 so that obviously means I now have to PvE some for my PvP character.

My question is this.
Is there some way or somewhere I can get a list of all the equipment I might need for more serious pvp that I can't get through PvP character system?

Are Q8 sheilds really it?

Pretty much. You could make arguments for req 8 focuses or weapons, but shields have the real main benefit of +8 base armor for professions that need it.

Previously, dire pets could be added to the list, but this was fixed with the Zaishen Menagerie.

Thanks alot I was really worried about having to farm or pay loads of money for a bunch of items.

relatedly about what percent of the characters I see on observer mode are pve characters?

Its hard for me to tell cause I don't know what type of skins you can get from those daily tournaments.

Do they just all use pvp chars?

A lot of the high-end GvG'ers you see on obs are PvP chars that use RPs to get nice equip.

But, aside from low req shields you'll get everything you need from the standard PvP equip.

Depends on if you're using a build with Tactics skills. If so, then usually yes, but not always.

I use q7 shields and spec 8 into tactics to account for weakness. Otherwise if you use 7 in tactics and get weakened you still only get the 8 armour because weakness reduces your atts by 1.

Getting your Tactics to 9 is not worth it for the armor, you need to sacrifice too much attrib points for that.

If you can't afford multiple max req.8 shields I suggest getting 15 Armor req.8s, those are dirt cheap and the difference of 1 armor will be unnoticable, practicing swapping to proper +10 armor mods will matter a lot more than that.
