Online Purchasing vs Walmart?!
So I noticed Walmart started selling the "Complete Collection" (proph, factions, nightfall, EotN) for $40. I managed to get one or two people to play with this. Anyhow, a buddy of mine has a birthday today but lives out of state. I thought "ah, the perfect change to get him into GW!". Of course, since he is out of state I'll need to purchase an online copy to get it him today. So first I check NCSoft store... $40 for the trilogy! Direct 2 Drive and Steam are the same way!
Can anyone figure out a reason for the massive difference in prices? The full game (all 4 expacs) from any online source like that is $70 (which seems goofy considering they don't have to pay for physical packaging, shipping etc. BUt $40 for trilogy and $30 for EotN) when the physically packaged bundle at walmart for all 4 games is going for $40. 0_o Any ideas? |

If your local Walmart has the box, you could buy it and email the key code to your friend. He could certainly be up and running by this evening.

Roen gave you the link. That is where you download even if you purchase the game online. It's the same for everyone. Remind him that the entire download (so no long loading times) can be done using the -image command descibed in the wiki http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/-image#-image
As this will take hours, he should do it overnight or when he's gone for the day.

Good ol' days. I bought everything for the full 100% price and don't even have the Summoning Imp. <oldschool player, 63 months>
A new player that buys the complete pack with every feature on it pays 40 dollars and even get extra content . I call shenanigans! |

ANet needs a motivation for box retail sellers to move the product. If they had the same price online or a lower price then sales of the box would fall and brick and mortar retailers would not want to carry it. What I think anyway.
