What am I doing wrong?
I edited the thread because this problem still hasn't been solved.
How do I get the henchmen to attack my target? I've tried spamming spacebar which doesn't work 100% of the time and ctrl + spacebar just targets myself.. what do I do? Last edited by Backfat; Oct 22, 2010 at 01:30 AM // 01:30.. |

You can lock heroes onto a taget in their controls. Henchmen generally focus on your own target, especially the warriors are very good at focusing on your own target. Calling targets, using CTRL+clicking the target can help.
Given your party composition, though, they should be following the target you attack perfectly... Do note that Deactivating NOX is a particularly hard quest, a part of a series of quests that are meant for experienced players who own all campaigns and have done it all before. You will need to interrupt his skill, it's one of the most important tasks for that quest. Last, NOX does indeed posess some extremely damaging skills. Protective spirit is your friend. You'll meet more similar bosses (pay a visit to Forum highlands and look at the ruby djinn boss with Searing flames there... he'll have your party well roasted in seconds) Also note that it's not usually a good idea to completely rely on a single type of henchman. Some diversity will help a lot - for example, a melee support necromancer will raise the damage done by the whole group of melee warriors and likely be worth more than a single extra warrior. Consider making MOX into an Arcane orders support character instead of just another melee. Henchmen I'd recommend in Nightfall: -Herta: has ward skills, an important contribution to group survivability. -Cynn: good AoE damage -Odurra: your only mesmer, and a Mesmer that messes with the enemy is usually a good idea to bring with yourself. |

In that quest, you don't need to kill all the bots, just the ones that would allow a cross connection with you between them. Stay up on the stairs. As said this is a very difficult quest.

ill tell you what you do wrong.
first off all why on earth would you want to do a difficult quest like nox rox pox quest. i suggest you first play trough the entire campaign. aquire some good heroes unlock the good skills. and then after you have some understanding on how to kill those lil monsters. ONLY then you can go into the more elite areas. also you will learn how to control heroes theres such a thing as spreading them out or flag them in a single place. i suggest you read these sections each of them http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/campfire-f17.html thats what i did i read all guides possible. an suddenly blasted trough all campaign in a week with multiple characters. ALSO this took me a few months to figure out if you cant/wont play that long this game simply is not for you Last edited by Anime Divine; Oct 20, 2010 at 09:27 AM // 09:27.. |

Thanks for the link, and thanks to the other posters' suggestions as well. I never could figure out how to get all the henchmen/heroes to all nuke one target whenever I wanted. There were so many times where the party wiped because each henchman was attacking it's own target, mobs were running everywhere, tagging healers... chaos really. I guess I just find myself kind of half frustrated, half lost with this game sometimes. 75% of the reason I bought the game at this stage was to fill my HoM for GW2. The other part was to catch up on the lore. The learning curve seems to be a little bit more steep than what I was expecting. Not so much for combat/questing/missions but more of the side stuff like figuring out where you get new armor, new skills, weapons, titles, hero armor... it never really explains it in game. It seems you are almost dependent on outside sources to find necessary information. I'm also glad to see this http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/w...t10455534.html it will surely help noobs like me out ALOT Last edited by Backfat; Oct 20, 2010 at 09:42 AM // 09:42.. |

yes most people will refer you to wiki anyways.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page press F10 in game. every single mission is basicly there you just need to read it sometimes it doesnt say there how to effectively kill a boss or complete a mission so you will need some help either advice from exp players or get creative yourself the most important thing in game is to know how skills work and how you apply them in HM. one more suggestion get the 3 necro heroes asap. "discordway" "sabway" goodluck to you |

Keep in mind that when a description says heroes or henchies will attack what you attack, spell casting does not count as an attack. You can cast spells all day long and they will just stand there with their thumbs up their tails if they are out of aggro range. If you get the H&H on the right target, you can turn your attention to other targets as long as you only cast on those targets and never wand them.

Quick tangential question: Is the NOX part of Zinn's Task that much harder than the other two? I have not played through Nightfall yet so I can't get to that part but handily dispatched the first two.

I just did the MOX quest trio and they all went fairly smooth. NOX took longer to drop, for sure, but there was never a time when I was in danger of a wipe. Maybe my Gwen was just interrupting all the nasties? I did spirit spam and just focused on keeping the spirits going, avoiding the robot, and soon enough it was over.
Just lucky? |

I did all of them but found N.O.X to be a bit harder. I guess the key to beating him is to not keep your H&H in a tight pack as they will die pretty fast. Honestly, it's just a long fight. Bring some DP-removal., just in case.

Pick an enemy and do ctrl+space or ctrl+<pick a skill>. The interface should say either "I'm attacking such-and-such" or "I'm using <skill> on such-and-such." The heroes and henchies should follow. There's also (select target then) shift+space which is supposed to tell the H/H to go do the dirty work, but good luck with that one.

The Nox one can be hard but this helped me a lot -
Take a ranger hero with elite broadhead arrow & a necro hero with elite spoil victor. Flag these two apart but close enough to attack NOX. Lock both heroes onto Nox as a target. (To lock them target NOX yourself, then click using the little numbers next to your heroes names (press P if you don't see heroes names), then click the target icon. Rest of the party flag about the place or keep close to you, take damage + hero/hench whatever to keep yourself alive but with enough damage to kill the other guys. Nox won't get off a single thing this way. Sorted. |

I always hold in left ctrl and double click target, my toon will say "I'm attacking whatever...!" in chat, seems to work for me.
