Why are Q7s and Q8's so sought after?
I was looking over the "Awesome Weapons" thread on Screenshot Exposition, and I noticed a ton of people had posted weapons with max stats and lower-than-normal requirements.
Then I saw in the Buy forum several people offering big bucks for them. Why are these so sought after? It seems like you wouldn't actually put the required attribute so low, given that if the weapon is equipped, you're likely using skills of the same attribute. Is it just due to rarity? Or is there some hidden practical value I'm missing? |

epeen aside, it's also a rarity thing. Max req. 7's don't drop anymore, and haven't for quite some time. Max req. 8's only drop in a limited number of weapon classes, specifically swords, shields, and offhands ... though a-net assures it's possible to drop on all, it simply hasn't been verified to have happened on anything else since Nightfall was released.

The same reason Asian minis like Shiro'ken, Oni, Vizu, etc. are so expensive: limited availability. Though there's been some debate, it's widely accepted that max r7's don't drop anymore, and that max r8's now drop with the rate that r7's used to drop. If it's no longer available or otherwise extremely limited new production, then demand will always beat supply, since any demand at all is more than the new incoming supply.
Also, e-peen. |

Well GUess could say e-peen, personally its just that theres nothing else to spent on cash, so can get lil cooler r7-8 weapons instead some r9 and keep useless ecto in storage.

Rarity.
Low req tactics shields have some practical value, but that's about it. |

when you have nothing else to buy in the game, after you get all your titles, armor etc, you start looking for things to spend money on. Some people get mini's some get weapons.

Seems like most of the people that can't afford "rare" weapons are the ones claiming that its for E-peen.
The only reason I see use in buying low req weps are so you can get max usability out of it while not putting as many attributes into it. A monk with a req 7 tact 16 armor shield is better off than one that uses a req 9 tact 16 armor shield. Also I'm unsure of weakness still does this but it lowers attribute by 1 or 2..or something like that (maybe this was a dream)...so having low req tactic shields while having more points in it will still allow for max armor to be gained. The ones that care a lot about looks or have more than enough money to spend on items will go for gold color (even though no one else knows) or skin (darkwing). Personally I go for blue and any skin (I have my preferences sure but if I can't afford it I don't go QQ and farm I just buy what I can and maybe get it later) |

Pleikki...Yeah...about that... http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/y...t10463144.html I don't think Pleikki can afford any r8's either...that must be why (s)he said its an e-peen thing. |

I actually use my R7(non-max) and R8 focuses and shields in PvE, and it has nothing to do with "e-peen". It's the low requirement that makes them useful.

The low requirements in themselves are rarely useful, since if you're investing points in a weapon attribute, you'll most likely want to use skills and such that have a much better usefulness at an attribute above 7 and 8.
So, really, they're so expensive because of their rarity. |
