Are updates usually on Thursdays?

yes usually on a thursday, they then use friday to fix the bugs in the previous update.

Expect an update around every 6-8 month.

actually they're usually small bug fixes that are scheduled, but sometimes on Thursdays...the first Thursday of each month are major updates.

Today's update removed the Enchanted Snowmen henchmen from Lion's Arch and added a login announcement for job openings.
