I don't know where or how I came to say a-taxe, but I just did. Interesting though, I've always wondered about this. |

I've never tried to pronounce this out loud. On seeing the thread title (but before reading the thread), I was thinking just... axe. More or less. I tried "at axe" but that sounded wrong just because there's no vowel between the t and x.
I'm happy to know that it's actually pronounced "aa-che" (using Spanish/Basque che, so it'd sound like "aa-chay") and should I ever find myself trying to express the fact that I'm getting stomped by an aatxe in real life, people will understand what I'm trying to say. They may not know what an aatxe really is, but at least they won't think I'm being flattened by an axe. Yeah, or this. Maybe even "demon cow." |

I am a firm believer that words should be spelled how they sound, so I just say AT-AXE.
Works for me. |

I say aaht-see. although it varies, sometimes I pronounce the "T" as "K" or the "S" as a "Z".

And it isn't spelt Ataxe. Upon first seeing the name and trying to pronounce it, I just said "axe". Upon actually looking at it, I think I tried to pronounce it as spelt (Aat-xe), obviously that provide difficult without a vowl between the t and x. Largely I pronounce it "atch", as I'm a little dubious about the final "e" and how that should be pronounced. Previously I wrote ??tʃeɪ, but it might just be ??tʃ (that's how I've pronounced it for a very long time). For those too lazy to read the IPA page on the wikipedia, I'm saying it's either "atch-ay" or "atch". This post would indicate the latter. |

I always thought it as Ah-Taxi. Good to know what a more correct pronunciation may be though. I hate getting things wrong.

One problem - people keep talking about the Basque pronunciation, but the Aatxes are not in Spain (or France), it's Tyria - so how is Aatxe pronounced in "Tyrian"?
On a side note - I wish the folks at ANet would supply an official pronunciation guide for the game. For example, Nebo Terrace - is it Neb-oh or Nee-boh or Nee-boo or what? |

'Attics' (the plural of 'attic'), even though I know the correct pronunciation, I've always used this way.
Most of the time, since they don't drop their pink goo for me, it's "Motherf***ing Worthless Moo-Cow" or some other derogatory nonsense.
