thrown offline - Guild Wars Forums

well i'd like to have some help, guildwars keeps throwing me offline every 15-30, sometimes every 5 minutes. so i can still whisper people, but people can't whisper back as it sais i'm offline. and when that happened, i need to reconnect my friendlist .. please help

It would help if you would list the error code. It's most likely Error Code 007, which means your internet connection either failed or was too weak to support the connection. If you're getting it a lot, check your internet connection. If it's not an 007, you can look for whatever error you're getting on the wiki:

As for the whisper thing, any time you disconnect but your client remains open, you'll have to reconnect to friends list otherwise you'll be considered "Offline." It shouldn't be much of an inconvenience if you make sure your connection is solid and stop getting d/ced.

I get you are not actually kicked out of the game, but only are logged out from the friends-server when actually playing?

or you could simply have "showas offline" checked? i noticed i accidentally had my account set to offline for a while (probably while i was afk) and forgot to reset back to "online" status

i'm not being disconnected from the game, but logged out from friends-server when playing as arduin said. that's what i meant. so as example i'm in kamadan or in explorable area, my friends can't whisper me anymore (all of a sudden, as it sais i'm offline) but i'm still offline, just my friend list is offline (me being the cause somewhere).
and it isn't the offline ticked box.
also, no error code.
any ideas?

Oh, it will also d/c you from friends server if you lag out and have to attempt a reconnect while in an explorable area. So if you're out exploring, and it says something along the lines of "A network error has caused you to disconnect..." and you reconnect, you'll be logged out of friends server but not kicked out of game (007 as mentioned). But this can't happen in Kamadan, so if you're sure it's happened in town, I can't help ya. If it's only in explorables, you might be having to reconnect, in which case it's probably still an internet connection issue.

If that describes your problem then check your connection. This never happens in town though (it just 007's you), so if you're 100% positive it has happened in town (rather than the offline status being obtained in explorable and you don't notice until you're in a town), then I'm not sure.

no it happens just everywhere. guild hall / other towns / explorable. and i never get the ''a network error has caused you to disconnect...''

and also, it sometimes still show at my screen i'm online, but they can't whisper me anymore because it already sais i'm offline while i'm clearly not as i'm in their party.
really weird, all worked perfect till i restarted playing last week ..
any other idea? :s

Ive been having the same problem. It shows Im logged off the Guild List & the reconnect message on my friends list. Never disconnect from the game.

this happens to me as well. Its a packet loss between your isp and anet servers. Nothing that you or they can really do about it, and it is annoying to all heck.

there is no error message only the friends list d/c'ing. Lots of people actually get it, and it is usually if in the States a packet loss going from like denver to seattle, its only a hiccup of a loss which means you technically are still connected only lose a slight... it's sort of like a 'buffering' aspect yet one that we personally cannot fix as its nothing to do with your computer nor their servers at Anet

would reinstalling help? or really nothing helps? as before everything worked fine.

no I have reinstalled multiple times even used multple pc's from my home. Its a connection issue nothing with your computer or .dat/.exe, pure connection from something be it your house all the way to Seattle if you are in the US.

I still think mine is because there are 6 computers in this house 2 of which play WoW, one which is always on Facebook apps so the bandwidth is torn asunder and causes packet loss between all of them, yet I can still play the game with a 160ish ping and rarely any lag.

Still baffles me and wish I too could get it fixed

also to add into the weirdness... if you zone in and out a few times it'll kick you back online lawl

wow kick back online, that's weird xD.. yea it's really annoying and might be problem as there are 4 cellphones nonstop on internet + 2 computers :/
wish they could fix it..
