Inherent Mods, "Old School" EoTN?
The wiki tells me that stuff from proph and factions is "old school" and so you can't change inscriptions, or the other mod on a Wand or Foci.
I just farmed and got a Restoration Staff from a collector in Eye of the North for my hero. It came with two mods. Staffs can have three mods though, so I try to add an inscription, but I can't. So I have three questions, Is some stuff from Eye of the North oldschool as well? and If you get an item from a collector in ANY expansion or campaign that has "inherent modifiers" (comes already with a bonus or two that has an equivalent inscription or upgrade component) does that mean that it is also entirely old-school? That you can't give it the bonuses that its missing? This would mean that a massive amount of weapons in the game in all expansions and campaigns are almost completely useless (eg my restoration staff), since they can never even have the total amount of bonuses that another weapon of its kind could have? In general, "old school" just refers to the fact that the item has an inherent mod instead of an inscription (there are other definitions but this one is most regularly used in-game).
Some collectors in eotn offer items that have an inherent mod (such as Akom, his staves have +5 energy while enchanted). This does not mean it is 'missing' a mod. It still has an inscription, only it is inherent and cannot be changed. |
