Problem when logging into GW
Hey all,
Does anybody get a problem when logging into GW. After double clicking on the logo on my desktop I often get "Repairing Data Archive" which then takes about 15-20mins. After that it's fine. This happens quite often. Any ideas? Thanks |

Haven't experienced this problem, but I would recommend to add "-image" in the command line argument and see if that helps to push anything that might be missing. If that doesn't help, next step after that would to create a diagnostic logfile and see if anything turns up. Do that by adding "-diag" on the command line. Lastly, you can try doing "-repair" which will hopefully attempt to repair your .DAT file. I would try these first.

If the above doesn't help, you could have a problem with your hard drive or RAM. Are you overclocking anything, btw?
If you also get occasional registry errors, it could be a RAM problem. Or, it could be that gw.dat is partially stored on a bad sector(s) on the hard drive. You'd need to do a complete drive scan to find out - which can take a long time. |
