I just got my Guild Wars in the mail, and everytime I try to install it says that it can't connect to the internet? My pc is hooked directly into the modem, What do I need to do?

What operating system do you have?
Have you tried running it as administrator? |

Might be your antivirus blocking it as it states while installing

Could be that your firewall is not giving permission to access the internet.

hmm...strange problem, but if it wasn't working before you purchased the game it might have made more scene to come on a forum and ask questions before hand.
I also had the same problem when i installed it. Make sure it is set to be allowed access through your firewall, i know that i had major problems installing it when i bought it. if i remember correctly try turning off the firewall completely and connecting to the game. if this works the all you need to do is tell ure fire wall to allow Guildwars "safe Passage" |

If you can open up a browser and post on this forum, obviously your internet connection is working. Check your firewall. It's probably blocking it. You may need to put in an exception for GW.EXE allowing it to make outbound connections.

are you in a college campus and using their broadband? if so you need to have a chat with their techs to allow GW to connect.

Are you running PeerBlock, or some other IP filtering program? If you have PeerBlock, you'll need to "Allow HTTP" in order for Guild Wars to access the servers.

figured it out guys, I had to open a port in my personal firewall. Is it okay if I install Factions before Guild Wars? Still waiting on the game.

You can download the client from the website. The same client runs all the games. Which content you play depends on what licenses you add to your account.

If the codes have been used by the previous owner of the game then you need to purchase new ones. IN other words you have been scammed.

Yep, sorry you got scammed. Don't buy any online MMO used. Used accounts are worthless.
Contact the seller and ask for your money back. If they made an honest mistake and just didnt' realize you can't sell a used account then they'll be cooperative. If not, then go thru Paypal/Credit card and report it as a scam and get your money back thru them. |

I'm fine with just paying for the cd's. I got Factions and Guild Wars both for 10 bucks used. Is there a site online that I can purchase an online code at?

No... you got nothing.
You can download the entire game for free from the main Guild Wars site. What you pay for to play the game, is the account. You got scammed. |
