Guild Leadership Swapped? - Guild Wars Forums

Now that the game has stopped receiving a lot of support, I've only been playing on and off. I last got on around Wintersday, and again today (Feb 27th). I maintain a small guild of friends who I met in-game so we can stay in partial contact with each other, and I've been the leader of the Guild for years now. I logged on today to find that I was somehow an Officer in the Guild, and one of the previous Officers is now leader.

In my experience, the only way to appoint a new leader is for the current leader to do so, so I'm wondering how this is at all possible. Was there some update I missed where if you're inactive for a certain period of time the game automatically demotes you from leader status?

if the leader is inactive for 3 months they are demoted (happened in my guild as well). So your old leader probably had not signed on for at least that long.

^ That happened to me once in fact; I was overseas for 5 months and didn't want to log in to my precious GW account in an internet cafe.

As to why you're an officer now; that wouldn't happen automatically, so I guess you're new guild leader did it on account of you being an active member.

"If a guild leader is inactive for 60 days (2 months from the last login, as shown in Guild window, they will automatically be demoted to officer, and the most senior officer who was active in the past 60 days will be instantly promoted to leader." - from wiki

And no, it's not new.

Yeah, so the guy who is guild leader now was your most active officer. if he's a good officer, he will no doubt give your leadership back if you ask for it
