I find the 7 hero update stupid, its just going to make people even more isolated. I played guild wars for interaction. I liked joining a group of PEOPLE to do missions. Even if there is a chance of failure, thats just life.

Believe me, you wouldn't want to join up with me. I have very little time to play, and quite often I have to quit even when I'm in a mission or a vanquish. That's why I group with heroes and hench, they don't mind. For people like me, the 7 hero update is not stupid.

i have come to the conclusion that my playstyle is NOT compatible with many players out there, and i am NOT changing my skill bar for some random PUG. so yes, i am awaiting this 7 hero update
its the "other" updates that concern me tho..... Quote:
and the idea of partying up with other players is for variety. if you have to change your build to what the other players want, then basically it would fall in line with copy/paste bug that some of the "leet" happen to be stuck with. it might not be as effective, but try just creating a random PUG and tell everyone set their builds as they wish, i garauntee it will be a lot more fun (and even a ball of laughs) than forcing everyone in the group to use specific skillsets. if you are truly that ornery about having control of the sync of skills, thats what heroes (and the 7 hero update) are for. Quote:
how many players actually think that they could have played through on their very first toon without ever dieing? i know whenever i first start playing a game i EXPECT to die as i learn, then the next time around i get better. I'm quite sure this was ANets original thought as well, thats why they give you more than 1 character slot. Hell its not like its that hard to get Survivor now anyway, there are quite a few gimmicks people use to NOT DIE and still get the exp they need, so why bother changing the requirement for the title? Quote:
in conclusion it seems to me that your arguements against these two titles are based off of laziness in gameplay on your part Quote:

So you would rather confine yourself to one playing style the entire time? Must get boring.

I play the game for fun and in the first couple of years had lots of fun with other players. I agree with you and could well imagine writing your post almost word for word. Sadly that isn't how many view the game and that is why 7 heroes are inevitable. Nowadays what often happens is you cannot get on a party without proving yourself. Underworld,Show how many stones you have less than 250 and its get lost. Ordinary missions and its ping your build if its not what they want again its get lost. Now the usual reply to complaints of this nature is that parties in the underworld don't want to take the inexperienced, fair enough comment but annoying to be treated as inexperienced when your not but just happen to sell the stones. Build elitism' there are loads of crap builds and just as many good builds. It is assumed by some that if you will not ping a build or don't have one they recognise that again your an idiot and they are not shy of publicly humiliating the player to anyone around. This I suspect has made many reject playing with others and they cannot wait to dump them in favour of heroes. Personally I use great builds average builds and yes sometimes I try out one that is pretty bad but I rarely fail even in hard mode though a wipe sometimes occurs when I make a mistake. I would be happy to talk things out with toher players and indeed can do this within my guild or alliance. Pugs however what to communicate as little as possible and are darn rude about it too. A little more reasonable behaviour from the players and seven heroes would never have been needed. I have lots of fun though. |

Is everyone ready for the rage when they change things like Drunkard and all the veterans go ballistic?

I'm a relative veteran and I would love them to make Drunkard account based. I've got at least 1k minutes spread out over a few characters and could really do with the boost. |

I just finished my drunkard and party on my main and am working on my sweet title as I finish my vanqs. I wouldn't mind the update even though I only plan on getting GWAMM on one char as of right now, but I can see why other people who invested money into multiple characters would be upset. It would be a waste of gold.

I'm a veteran since BWE, have almost all titles and an almost full hall. Most changes won't affect me since I already have done most stuff. However I'm all for making them easy, since I feel that other people shouldn't go through the agony that is some titles. Drunkard is a drag to complete, survivor is a shitty implementation at best, especially since it was released a year after I made my character, and the rep titles should all be account based.

I'm looking forward to the 7 hero update..mainly as finding decent players to play with takes so long, that by the time I get a group together I could have just completed the run by myself.
Also, I already have survivor so meh, don't really know what to say about that..I guess I'd prefer they keep it the same but the proposed change doesn't make too much of a difference. I guess it would be nice for the players who started before Factions. (My warrior never had the chance the get it). Not bothered about the other titles changing to account-based (if that is on the cards)..I'm at about 7.5k drunkard minutes on my main..only thing I can think of that would seriously annoy me is if they made it spam click like the other consumable titles My two cents. |

Im looking forward to the 7 hero update. Yea it may have an effect on people playing with each other, but Im totally interested in coming up with different builds of my own.
To which I will refuse to jump on forums and copy paste the "in thing." It will definitely bring me back to the game a bit more, considering I'm done everything I need to be done with. Quote:
Its not the best attitude to have....below is a better attitude. Quote:
I have full HoM, and GWAMM on my main character. I've never did my drunkard title. It just didnt seem very fun to me to work on it while playing. So if people complain...its pretty simple.. No one forced them to do drunkard. Its not a full HoM or GWAMM requirement. Last edited by REDdelver; Feb 28, 2011 at 03:39 PM // 15:39.. |

I kinda like playing with other players. Its just that most of the time I have to run a certan build because it wont work otherwise (you all have been in those kind of pugs) With the 7 heroes I can run a complete team my own way.
But i still prefer to go with my mate and run 2 players 6 heroes. |

The 7-hero update is something that I thought would never happen. Overall, I like the idea. If you're one of those who thinks it will make it harder to play with actual people, however, remember two things:
1) The 7-heroes update is supposed to come with EB, which in theory will make it EASIER to find people to play with, at least for missions. 2) Most of, if not all of the people who will use 7 heroes are the people who are already using 3 heroes and 4 henchmen. Thus, its unlikely to make people play much differently. It COULD make a difference if they let 7 heroes into elite areas, of course, but we don't know yet whether that will be the case. As for making titles easier... if you really take a long hard look at certain things, you'll find that some titles (like drunkard, sweet tooth, Kurzick/Luxon, survivor and LDoA) need some reworking. 1) There are skills that require being drunk to be used properly, which means if you want to use those skills on multiple character you're needlessly spending drunk points on multiple characters. So in a very real way it makes sense for this to be an acct wide title. Also, the time usage for drunkard encourages botting and is excessively cumbersome. 2) Sweet tooth has some of the same issues, since many sweet points come from DP removers or con buffs that you'd want to use on certain characters. For example, what good does my mesmer get out of having an increased attack speed granted by certain cons? Why would I bother using it on that char if not only for the title. 3) Kurzick/Luxon are just out of control in terms of the requirements. Last night my alliance had a debate about this, and we found that if you did a NM factions book, a HM factions book, a Young Heroes book and vanqed all 7 Kurzick areas ON TEN CHARACTERS EACH you would still be short of the max requirement by almost a million points. Of course we all know that there are other ways to get faction (AB, JQ, FA, Urgoz/The Deep, etc.) but generally these are low rewards and many have time issues. No single title should require 3+ months of single minded effort, especially not one that has skills based on the rank. 4) Survivor is problematic primarily because there are a lot of people who lost it before it even existed. Many others lost it long before they really understood that it was there, or that they would eventually want to go for titles. Why should a player have to re-roll a character (or start a new one) just to be able to get a title? 5) LDoA is also a bit of an issue, since it again requires months of single-minded effort and has basically no real payoff. Spending hours death leveling foes just is a waste of time, and encourages afk playing. If for no other reason, afk playing should be discouraged as a drain on server resources. Feel free to disagree of course, we all know that these titles are not really required. But when anet shifted from adding new content to encouraging players to work on titles with the existing content, they effectively said "this is the way we expect veterans to play now." They buggered their way into this mess, now its time for them to bugger their way out of it. |
